The sixth gripping thriller in Lars Kepler’s bestselling series featuring Joona Linna. Perfect for fans of Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbo.

There’s a face at the window.
A masked stranger stands in the shadow of a garden, watching his first victim through the window. He will kill him slowly – play him a nursery rhyme – make him pay.

A killer in your house.
The police offer ex-Detective Joona Linna a chance to clear his name: help Superintendent Saga Bauer track down the vicious killer terrorising Stockholm, before he strikes again.

Only one man can stop him.
Now Joona stands between a disturbed predator and its prey. He must catch a killer who hunts in the shadows and who is dangerously close to losing control…

These plots just get wilder and wilder and yet I continue to enjoy them!I honestly had no idea how this book was going to start because of the end of the last book and because in all these books, so much happens between books off-page. This is definitely one of the books in this series that has less Joona, which I tend to like a little less. However, the plot of this one was very engaging so I didn't mind too much.Just like with many other books in this series, This one has a very exciting conclusion. I really enjoyed all the other important characters in this book. Seeing the relationship develop between Rex and Sammy was especially good. I definitely think these were some ridiculous or over-the-top, but at this point in this series, I'm pretty used to that.I know absolutely nothing about book seven but I will be starting it really soon so I can get to my book eight ARC. I continue to recommend this series if you want a fast-paced, over-the-top mystery series.

The author calls the evil doer at the center a spree killer. Yet in many ways he is a sympathetic figure and the reader is left without sympathy for his victims. The investigators sort out the mystery cleverly and it ends with a surprising twist.

Why do I let myself get pulled into these graphic Swedish noir novels about gruesome murders. Well, maybe because the story is intense and interesting, maybe it is because the characters are sometimes and bizarre and quirky as the storyline. I need to go back and read the previous books in the series to see how the policeman turned criminal evolved to the point he is at in this book. So many murders in this book and such success in hunting the killer. I would love to see more of the character, Saga. I felt a little let down when she was sent to Chicago to interview a woman who knew the murdered men far more intimately than she wanted. She should have been with Joona.

This is the first book I have read in this series. You can tell the difference between American authors and authors from other countries. It seems that the authors from other countries take more liberties with their stories. This is a good thing. In regards, to the action. There was none of that lacking. Also, you may lose count of all of the bodies that pile up. I read that some readers thought this book was on the violent side. I personally did not think it was but I could see where it might be for those who have a weaker taste for violence. I did experience where because I had not rad the prior novels, I did not have an established relationship with Linna. So that did take away some from the book. There was not a great connection to Linna or the other characters in this book. Lastly, I did feel like this book could have been about a hundred pages shorter. I may go back and start with book one to see where the journey all began.

The Rabbit Hunter is the latest (6th) book in the Joona Linna series from husband and wife writing duo Lars Kepler.Followers of the series will know that things went sideways for now ex-Detective Joona and two of his coworkers in the last book. Joona shouldered the blame and has now been in prison for two years. But when a high ranking Swedish official is brutally murdered, Joona is offered a deal. Help find the killer and be pardoned. Joona takes the deal - yes, he wants out of prison, but solving crimes is what drives him.The opening prologue sets the tone of the book. A particularly brutal murder of a particularly loathsome man. (Gentle readers - there are graphic scenes and plot devices in this book.) The killer is given a voice and his chapters are quite chilling.Saga Bauer is back and she is one of my favourite characters, on par with Joona. She's tough, driven and highly intelligent - just like Joona. The time in prison has given Joona time to think about his personal life. This release will give him time to pursue it. Many of the relationships in the book are fractured - and this ties in with the main plotline. The pace is quick, the action is constant and the tension rises. Although I expected a dark read, this one was really dark - some of the story seems like oddly gratuitous sex (Jeanette in the bathroom?!) and violence that has no bearing on the case. The last page had me wondering if I had a page missing in my copy. It ends a bit abruptly, but sets the stage (and crime) for the next Joona Linna book. If you like dark Scandi noir, this is a series for you.
