About this audiobook
The author of The Big F is back with another snappy, utterly relatable contemporary audiobook about loving yourself and forging your own path.
Savannah is dreading being home alone with her overbearing mother after her big sister—and best friend—goes off to college. But if she can just get through senior year, she'll be able to escape to college, too. What she doesn't count on is that her mother's obsession with weight has only grown deeper since her appearance on an extreme weight-loss show, and now Savvy's mom is pressuring her even harder to be constantly mindful of what she eats.
Between her mom's diet-helicoptering, missing her sister, and worrying about her collegiate future, Savvy has enough to worry about. And then she meets George, the cute new kid at school who has insecurities of his own. As Savvy and George grow closer, they help each other discover how to live in the moment and enjoy the here and now before it disappears.
To Be Honest is another sharp, witty audiobook from Maggie Ann Martin, about a spunky heroine who is dealing with very real issues—body image, parental pressure, loneliness, first love, and finding your way—with heart and humor.
Praise for The Big F:
"Martin’s first book is nothing short of amazing! You’ll laugh, cry and scream with every page as you follow Danielle and her realistic yet zany post–high-school antics. . . . The Big F deserves an A-plus for being the quirkiest, most fun-loving read of [the year] so far!" — RT Book Reviews
"A debut novel sure to resonate with high schoolers who eagerly anticipate graduation and the start of college." — School Library Journal

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This story was stunning! What I loved most about it was that it wasn't just about one thing, but it also didn't feel directionless. It wasn't just about a girl struggling with her weight, or family pressures, or divorce, or sexuality, loneliness, or teenage romance. It had all of these things without making it go in too many ways and seem sloppy and unresolved. I like that she is so real. She is self conscious about how she looks, but it's not to the point where she wants to actively try to change that about herself. She just seems to have the same self conscious thoughts that most teenage girls seem to have. Her's are just little size different. I loved how mature she was yet sometimes a little selfish; she always seemed to realize that she was being selfish and wanted to correct it right away. She is a strong female lead that I would want young girls to hear from. She doesn't wallow in her own self pity any longer than necessary (because let's face it, we all do sometimes) But she doesn't stay there long. She has healthy activities that she can do when she's stressed, and her relationship with her friends and family members is dynamic and not mundane. What a great character!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sweet and surprisingly deep. The weight of the main character is part of the plot in a completely unexpected way. A great, fun read.
