John Marrs is a master of the twisty-turny thriller and always creates surprises you don't see coming. This was no different! It was a police procedural / psychological thriller and kept me guessing throughout. I thought I had certain parts and characters figured out at different times, but I never did! Plus, he pulls a twist that I did NOT expect AT ALL and that I think a lot of authors wouldn't have done. It took some guts to do and it worked really well. I listened to this book and read it with the kindle/audible sync feature. I preferred the written version by far but that is my normal bias. If you like police books or TV shows, you will probably like this! Plus, it involves an interesting - and real - part of the London Met police force called the "super recognisers," which I didn't know was a thing previously and was pretty cool to learn more about.

John Marrs writes the best thrillers. Just when you think the plot gets resolved there’s an unexpected twist! Well written and well performed audio.

Very similar to a lot of serial killer books. All the same tropes, colleague romance, cop targeted etc'. Also a dismaying amount of psychological explanation of the killer which sounded Charles Martin like in its simplicity, and relationship issues which are typical of the genre in their rubbishness. The policing complexities held some ring of truth to me, a civilian.

I just loved that I couldn’t quite figure it out. And although somewhat far fetched I adored the ending.

It was well written but too long winded. I felt the story could have progressed faster. I enjoyed the narration.

    Awesome book
So happy to have found this author after reading so oo many mediocre books
The books is centred on an investigation into a serial killer and the lives of the investigating team and himself

This was good, better than when you disappeared. Not too shocked at the outcome yet happy with the ending

I’m trying to get a little disappointed with this author…the villain on his book never seem to get proper punishment, in my humble opinion.

    ?? ????????

I am really enjoying reading/listening to John Marrs backlist of books. ??? ???? ???? is a thought out and crafty style thriller that will have you wondering who is next on the killers list, what has broken within them, who & why they blame them.

The story is told alternately between DS Becca Vincent, super recognizer, Joe Russell and the villain.

Some of the killings are quite violent and graphic and this may not suit every reader. Becca is not a very likeable character, she's a bit self-centered who jumps to conclusions.

The killer's identity is revealed quite early on in this story which I don't really like as much, because I prefer to guess who it is, however I do really love when a villain is within the narration of the story. I like to hear their thoughts, know their why's and all about. So, I am thankful we have that.

I love the narrator @elizabethknowelden she is actually one of favorites, I actually type her name in the search on audiobook sites and look for books she has read just so I can listen to the ones she reads, however with this specific story I would have liked a male narrator to be involved. I think the story would have thrived more with both male and female tones being read since the main characters were both male and female. All in all, I highly recommend this read.
