About this audiobook

The Sunshine State’s most lovable psychopath, Serge A. Storms, kills it in this zany adventure from the “compulsively irreverent and shockingly funny” (Boston Globe) king of mayhem, New York Times bestselling author Tim Dorsey.

Serge and Coleman are back on the road, ready to hit the next stop on their list of obscure and wacky points of interest in the Sunshine State. This time, Serge’s interest is drawn to one of the largest retirement villages in the world—also known as the site of an infamous sex scandal between a retiree and her younger beau that rocked the community.

What starts out as an innocent quest to observe elders in their natural habitats, sample the local cuisine, and scope out a condo to live out the rest of their golden years, soon becomes a Robin Hood-like crusade to recover the funds of swindled residents. After all, our seniors should be revered and respected—they’ve heroically fought in wars, garnered priceless wisdom, and they have the best first-hand accounts of bizarre Floridian occurrences only Serge would know about. But as the resident’s rally for Serge to seek justice on their behalves, two detectives are hot on the heels of Serge and Coleman’s murderous trail.

In this epic adventure that jumps between present day and the tumultuous times of the Vietnam war, mystery fans are in for a witty and deliciously violent delight from the twisted imagination of bestselling author Tim Dorsey.

This was the most coherent story in a long time in this series.
Old people/retirees in Florida are being taken advantage of and as luck would have it Serge wants to join the retired set.
Throw in a bunch of Russian agents and double agents from the Cold War and non stop mayhem ensues. Bonus points for lots of unique and unusual ways for people to be killed.
    Quite entertaining!

Wow! First time read of a Tim Dorsey book. His character, Serge Storms, is a very unique individual (in every way). I enjoyed the absurdity of the story a great deal but too silly for me to catch up with all the other Serge books. Did love the pieces of FL lore that Dorsey added to it.

No sunscreen for the dead by Tim Dorsey (scribd audiobook) our favorite Florida trivia man/ researcher/antihero is back. Serge Storms and is friend Coleman are researching places to retire and come across so elderly at needs their unique brand of assistance. Plenty of laughs, misadventures, and friendships are made along the way. Great books as always!

I have come to the point in my life that if a book does not interest me, I stop reading. I labored with No Sunscreen for the Dead by Tim Dorsey. The story line was absurd and the language disruptive. I saw the storyline going nowhere, and the book a waste of precious time.

Let's see: Some obscure Florida Facts - Check, Serge kills some people in unique ways - check, a plot running through all of this - check. Only drawbacks in this one, plot was a little convoluted and Serge only sent a couple of people to their doom. Tim Dorsey is a great writer and even though this is a formula book, I really like it and will, of course, read the next one.

This is number 21 (or 22, depending on your source) Serge A. Storms adventure, but my first and last. I imagine by now his fans are used to his pontificating and spouting off random facts that are pretty well known and his vile murders. His straight man Coleman did nothing but swill beer and be stupid. I found it immensely irritating and offensive. I quit reading about the third chapter. I received a review copy of "No Sunscreen for the Dead: A Serge Storms Adventure 21" by Tim Dorsey (Farrago), through NetGalley.com.

There is enough craziness in Florida to inspire the craziness in this story. One has to feel people are getting what they deserve on this telling. The story works well as an audiobook. The appreciation of Summer thunderstorms is something I can identify with.

Serge decides that it is time to enjoy the retirement life, living in a community with the last heroes of our country. He finds that they are being swindled by a parade of salespeople, and decides to take care of that. Tangentially, he becomes involved in resolving an ongoing series of Florida homicides for the FBI.
