- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved both main characters, found Harper to be lovely in the first book he featured ( Accidental Vampire) and Drina is awesome, enjoyed the slow developing relationship between Harper and Drina which unlike other couples in previous books are hampered by Harper's guilt over Jenny's death. As in other books Sands keeps developing other characters throughout the books keeping the reader hooked and wanting to find what is next for them, looking forward finding what happens with Teddy and can't wait for Anders story, also loved Stephanie, such a brilliant well written character (full of surprises). Very enjoyable book with some very funny parts and a very good twist in the end.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is Drina and Harper's story. As with the other books in this series, it is a little romance and a bit something else. The something else in this case is mystery with a dab of action. There are some familiar people in this story and I enjoyed revisiting some of that history. The plot was a little different from most of the other stories in that someone is trying to killer Harper and/or Drina and maybe even Stephanie who they are trying to protect. Though not a new premise for the series it is not a common troupe either. Still it worked well and moved the story forward in a believable way. This one is also not as humorous as some of the others in the series. I did especially love the scene about the FM boots. I roared with laughter. I could totally see a guy being so clueless.Despite being a bit more serious, I still enjoyed this book and recommend to all readers who love paranormal romance. If you have not read this series you have no idea what fun you are missing.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed the continuation of the Argeneau family series.
Rouge hunter Drina Argenis ( from the Spanish side of the family ) has been many things but bodyguard & babysitter to a teenage vampire is something new. However there is an incentive : the other vampsitter, Harper Stoyan, may be Drina's life mate.
Trouble is, having just lost a life mate, Harper is resigned to being alone. He's completely unprepared when sexy and unpredictable Drina burst into his life to reignite his passions. Can Drina, with a little help from their teen charge, tempt this reluctant vampire to take a chance ?
Or will a dangerous unseen renegade kill Drina and Harper's one chance at happiness ? - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good story with plenty of action and humor. I liked the heroine and the important secondary character although never really warmed up to the hero but it was so funny. Older experienced and Spanish vampire Drina is sent as bodyguard along with Harper who is still sad over loss of his life mate.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It started off extremely slow for me. I loved the characters but the plot lacked something.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Not as fun as her others but not bad with holes in the plot and such. It was just a little boring and the main characters didn't have a lot of chemistry. As a follow up to Hungry for You, it just didn't compare. There are some laughs but just not enough for me.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Jumping into a long running series with book 15 is risky, but I certainly enjoyed myself. The relationship between the hero and heroine was effective as a stand alone (and smoking hot). Details about the Argeneau vampires were sprinkled at intervals in the story, and I never felt lost. There'd were some details about Stephanie's plight and Leonius's actions that could have been clearer, but that just further motivates me to go back and enjoy the previous books in the series.
As a Paranormal romance, Sands did a phenomenal job balancing chemistry and character development. The dance club was hot, hot, hot, and a realistic balance of sexual attraction and first date "getting to know you" conversations (which are pretty fascinating between immortal creatures). Even the skunk scene was a lovely blend of mundane and romantic (and Alessandro's vehement reaction to the "smelly cat" had me cracking up).
Full review at All Things Urban Fantasy. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Good to read, but easily forgotten. The story of Harper and Drina doesn't linger like previous stories in the series. Stephanie, the teenage vampire they are meant to protect steals the show with her sarcasm and plucky charm. While the over all book was humorous and delightful there were several editing errors that tend to be present in most of Lynsay Sands books. In the end I walked away feeling like this book was just a chance to bring back characters like Teddy before his story comes out and was a filler until she writes Christian's book which I am dying to read
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed The Reluctant Vampire, can't say it was one of my favorites (because I need to re-read them all) but it was a great read. I LOVE all the characters, seems like more of the newer lifemates than the ones I first fell in love with, I wish there would have been more appearances by some of the first lifemates. And Harper is such a sexy, sad vampire....Drina is a good fit for him. I love little Stephanie and am curious to see how she makes the transition from 15 year old edenate to an adult edenate, without turning into a "no fanger" and I want to know more about Anders. I LOVE Marguerite too and crotchety Lucian =) Even though it is book 15 in the series, I feel The Reluctant Vampire could almost be read as a stand alone, which makes me think LS is prepping us for even more wonderful Argeneau books =)It's been so long since I have read the whole series, I need to schedule a re-read in. Now to decide whether to buy all the books prior to TRV for my kindle or just my paperbacks.....hmmm with a kid heading to college I am thinking paperbacks may win out =)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While this series is an easy read for me I cannot help but grab each book as soon as it comes out. She just cannot write them fast enough to keep me satisfied. The imagination of the author is part of what draws me to it. The explanation for how vampires came about and the dynamics within this family keep me reading without fail. I just hope she continues this series faithfully!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5From a friends of the library booksale. I tried reading this, but bleah-- Though there was one good line. When a guest vampire comes to visit, the host says, "Come on in. There's fresh blood in the refrigerator."
