Описание

The next audiobook of psychological suspense and obsession from the authors of the blockbuster bestseller The Wife Between Us.

Seeking women ages 18-32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality. Generous compensation. Anonymity guaranteed.

When Jessica Farris signs up for a psychology study conducted by the mysterious Dr. Shields, she thinks all she'll have to do is answer a few questions, collect her money, and leave.

Question #1: Could you tell a lie without feeling guilt?

But as the questions grow more and more intense and invasive and the sessions become outings where Jess is told what to wear and how to act, she begins to feel as though Dr. Shields may know what she's thinking…and what she's hiding.

Question #2: Have you ever deeply hurt someone you care about?

As Jess's paranoia grows, it becomes clear that she can no longer trust what in her life is real, and what is one of Dr. Shields' manipulative experiments. Caught in a web of deceit and jealousy, Jess quickly learns that some obsessions can be deadly.

Question #3: Should a punishment always fit the crime?

From the authors of the blockbuster bestseller The Wife Between Us comes an electrifying audiobook about doubt, passion, and just how much you can trust someone.

I am the first person to say I don’t like thrillers but apparently since this is the second book of theirs that I have given five stars.... I LOVED the 2nd Person POV with Dr Shields. I’ve never seen that like this and it worked!! Good job!! Highly recommend.

The book was well worth a read, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking. The narrators, however, were exceptional.

HOWEVER....great plot but too long! It was too wordy therefore stretching out chapters that was unnecessary. Descriptions became repetitive which at times made it hard to finish.

Spectacular book! The two psychiatrists and the paitent between them are mavelously developed and believable. The devoted Dr Shields and her meandering husband make such convincing villians that by the end It is easy to question if any of the three msin characters achieved the moral high ground. Lots of symbolism and and underlying preachiness that compels the reader into believing noone is truly virtuous.

I should probably start this review by saying that folks who need to like the characters in their books will be tempted to skip this one after reading some of the reviews. Neither of the main characters are particularly likeable. But they'll miss out on an excellent psychological thriller. These two main characters forge a "relationship" based on deception (on both their parts) and they certainly make some bad decisions based on bad assumptions. But really, aren't most psychological thrillers based on such? And over the course of the book we learn what carved each of them into the beings they've become. I liked this one a lot, there were surprising twists and turns and overall it was a satisfying read for me. I did listen to a good bit of it on audio, which added to the experience - and since it's told from two separate points of view, it helped me know quickly which character was "speaking". And while "The Wife Between Us" has been on my TBR list for a while, it's definitely moved way up that list.
My thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing a copy for an unbiased review.

It's not bad, but I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters. So. Much. Douchery.
