Описание

From the author of the international mega-bestseller The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck comes a counterintuitive guide to the problems of hope.

We live in an interesting time. Materially, everything is the best it's ever been—we are freer, healthier and wealthier than any people in human history. Yet, somehow everything seems to be irreparably and horribly f*cked—the planet is warming, governments are failing, economies are collapsing, and everyone is perpetually offended on Twitter. At this moment in history, when we have access to technology, education and communication our ancestors couldn't even dream of, so many of us come back to an overriding feeling of hopelessness.

What's going on? If anyone can put a name to our current malaise and help fix it, it's Mark Manson. In 2016, Manson published The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck, a book that brilliantly gave shape to the ever-present, low-level hum of anxiety that permeates modern living. He showed us that technology had made it too easy to care about the wrong things, that our culture had convinced us that the world owed us something when it didn't—and worst of all, that our modern and maddening urge to always find happiness only served to make us unhappier. Instead, the "subtle art" of that title turned out to be a bold challenge: to choose your struggle; to narrow and focus and find the pain you want to sustain. The result was a book that became an international phenomenon, selling millions of copies worldwide while becoming the #1 bestseller in 13 different countries.

Now, in Everthing Is F*cked, Manson turns his gaze from the inevitable flaws within each individual self to the endless calamities taking place in the world around us. Drawing from the pool of psychological research on these topics, as well as the timeless wisdom of philosophers such as Plato, Nietzsche, and Tom Waits, he dissects religion and politics and the uncomfortable ways they have come to resemble one another. He looks at our relationships with money, entertainment and the internet, and how too much of a good thing can psychologically eat us alive. He openly defies our definitions of faith, happiness, freedom—and even of hope itself.

With his usual mix of erudition and where-the-f*ck-did-that-come-from humor, Manson takes us by the collar and challenges us to be more honest with ourselves and connected with the world in ways we probably haven't considered before. It's another counterintuitive romp through the pain in our hearts and the stress of our soul. One of the great modern writers has produced another audiobook that will set the agenda for years to come.

  • Alright, did you like the book written by the first @$$hole on this list? (That's Mark Manson, author of "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck," in case you forgot what was all the way up there.) Then you're sure to love his followup, which is still loaded with F-bombs, and will speak to anyone who feels like we're living in a dystopian novel, but without all the love triangles that make living in hell fun and palatable. Let Manson reassure you that, with your help, there's still hope for modern society yet.

I would recommend his previous book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck”. In this book he introduces and covers a broader range of philosophical and cognitive science topics in laymen’s terms. However, his presentment of this information isn’t fully accurate or coherent. Still good exposure for a reader just starting into the genre or not looking to go far into it.

Some ideas are really inspiring. The logic of the book is a bit weird though, could have a better story line.

What a eye opening book, no politically correct words, truth and reason, you might not agree with everything, but I admit that we rarely see such a direct approach without trying to suger coat the reality

A wonderful book. Mark's reading was fabulous, crisp, clear, well modulated, and comprehensible for a foreign reader like me. I am ordering a hard copy straight away because I need to come back to some parts of the book in future, especially the references which are obviously missing in the audiobook. Mark made sense and he did not give any f*cking prescription at the end.

I liked it even more than the first book, I recommend for those who really want to live not just consume this life. Thank you Mark Manson.

It's a book at times hard to digest, but keep it in mind as thoughts and opinions which are not absolute truths, but thoughts based on his life experience and other philosophers in which you could relate. Person Ally I enjoyed the most the second part of the book, it's easy to follow, explains down to earth more complicated topics. I read mark Manson since almost five years and can see how he rearranged some topics already written on his blogs with a new fresh perspective and a consistency and common direction, taking parts which seem unrelated and nicely blends them together, touching topics from decision making to Ai, etc. Personally I don't agree with everything that has been written, more specifically some parts about Ai. Yet a gives fresh air and different perspective on life , north American citizens for how I see it, can take the most out of this book, which is the main target audience of the book, but still applies for general Western culture and further. The best insight I found was about commitment and standing pain without trying to avoid , but to get stronger by it :commiting to your values and to something that is worth it. I think we still need hope, just as much as we need to have no hope.. we need both... My belief..Good job Mark! "Hope" this book can give a fresh perspective to others ;)

I liked the way Mark Manson writes, and though I started this book skeptical, I ended up liking it very much. It was on point, and I had some a-ha moments during listening to it. The way he writes kept my curiosity level high and I was looking forward to the next chapter until I finished it.

As usual Mark Manson makes sense of life in a way very few have been able to. There were times I had to replay - so recommend staying focused to keep up! Amazing stuff though - when is book 3 coming?!
