Описание

A Pretty Woman tale turns toxic and deadly in this provocative and riveting thriller of sex, obsession, and murder from Robyn Harding, the “master of domestic suspense” (Kathleen Barber) and the USA TODAY best-selling author of The Party and Her Pretty Face.

Natalie, a young art student in New York City, is struggling to pay her bills when a friend makes a suggestion: why not go online and find a sugar daddy — a wealthy, older man who will pay her for dates, and even give her a monthly allowance? Lots of girls do it, Nat learns. All that’s required is to look pretty and hang on his every word. Sexual favors are optional.

Though more than 30 years her senior, Gabe, a handsome corporate finance attorney, seems like the perfect candidate, and within a month, they are madly in love. At least, Nat is…Gabe already has a family, whom he has no intention of leaving.

So when he abruptly ends things, Nat can’t let go. She begins drinking heavily and stalking him: watching him at work, spying on his wife, even befriending his daughter, who is not much younger than she is. But when a body is found near Gabe’s posh Upper East Side apartment and the police tie her to the murder weapon, she can’t help but think she must have gone too far — she just can’t remember anything that happened that night.

Emotionally powerful and packed with pause-resisting suspense, The Arrangement delves into the sordid, all-too-real world of shadowy relationships between wealthy, powerful men and the young women who are caught in their web.

It was ok. Nothing special just the typical thriller that everyone has out these days
  • (3/5)
Not a fan of the ending. I was expecting a more twisted truth.
  • (4/5)
The middle part of the story was a tiny bit overextended, but all in all captivating

I thought this book was a great read. Entertaining to the very end. I did want to strangle and profusely shake the lead character repeatedly, but aside from that, I loved it. People always talk about “figuring it out” which is not my main focus, but with that said, I DID figure it out pretty quickly. I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it.

It was really good. I was caught up in the story.
  • (3/5)
Pretty predictable but enjoyable. Thought it would be more of a romance novel but more drama.
  • (5/5)
Draws you in and keeps you engaged. Enjoyed the interwoven format the story was written in. The complexity of the plot and characters was also very entertaining.
  • (4/5)
This one kept my attention the the very end, and I was surprised by the ending. A very engaging read for sure.
  • (5/5)
A thrilling, engaging, salacious ride that will keep you guessing until the very end!

Nat Murphy is a struggling art student. A friend offers her a solution to her money troubles, get a sugar daddy. Things don't work out as planned and go horribly wrong. I really enjoyed the first part of the book. I enjoyed following Nat and seeing how things progressed for her. The premise of the story I found very different and wanted to see how things worked out.The last quarter of the book I didn't enjoy. I felt it was very flawed and also very rushed. The big twist was predictable and by this point I had stopped caring. Nat as a character I liked and felt for but as the story progressed I changed my mind and found her quite annoying. I really wanted to love this book and was excited to read it. I felt really disappointed at the end but feel it still deserves three stars as I enjoyed the bulk of the story.

Great read. Well done Robyn Harding. That kept me up late several nights in a row. Looking forward to others.

Normally don't read thrillers but this was good. Will read more from this author.

I loved every second of this book. It is very real and believable!
  • (5/5)
The author has a gift for painting an entire picture and forming real characters without over-doing it. The characters were all relatable and like able, making the amazing twists seem more shocking than one would expect. The ending was not entirely surprising, but only after 56 of the 58 chapters.
I had never read anything by this author before, but I will be on the lookout for her other titles.

I enjoyed this little thrill! Definitely a good read!
  • (2/5)
Got to chapter 28. Quite juvenile to be honest. Not a real psychological thriller. Don’t waste your time
  • (5/5)
This was one of the best books I've read all year!
  • (3/5)
This reads like a car crash in slow motion. Natalie is a true piece of work. Annoying as all get out.
  • (3/5)
Nice, intense and easy to listen too but predictable.
  • (3/5)
Was underwhelmed with the twist, but overall it was a quick and easy narration to listen to.
  • (5/5)
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought it was going to be a “ Pretty woman” gone bad but it was much more. The twists made me want to continue on. Highly recommend

A special thank you to NetGalley, Simon & Schuster Canada, and Gallery/Scout Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.Natalie is a struggling art student in New York City. She is having trouble making rent and keeping up with her other bills. Her roommates are less than impressed with her drinking, overnight (male) guests, and her failure to pay her share. While at school, she becomes friends with one of her classmates who appears to have it all—Ava is impeccably dressed and has her own apartment in Chelsea. Natalie discovers that Ava used an online site to find herself a sugar daddy (a wealthy, older man that pays for her time with sexual favours being optional). Natalie is intrigued after she learns how much money can be earned for a date, some girls even get monthly allowances and trips. She meets Gabe, a dashing and successful lawyer who is more than thirty years her senior. He seems like the perfect candidate and their chemistry is undeniable. Soon enough, they are a couple. Natalie falls hard for Gabe and believes he feels the same way about her. But Gabe hasn't been completely honest, he is still married and has no intention of leaving his wife.Things end abruptly and Natalie can't cope. Her drinking spirals out of control and she starts stalking Gabe. She even goes as far as to befriend his daughter—but Gabe's not having it. What was supposed to be an arrangement between two consenting people has turned into an obsessive nightmare that ends in murder. After reviewing Her Pretty Face, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Harding's latest work and she delivers in spades! The plot is layered and emotionally charged with characters that are believable and real. Harding has a gift of not only being engaging, but to deliver a powerful page-turner that is taut with suspense. The writing is smart and complex, while not being trite or contrived. I was fully vested in the story, especially with such an interesting and fresh premise—I wanted to learn more about the sugar baby/sugar daddy dynamic. This book is sexy, smart, and seductive!

It was only going to be once. Maybe twice. She just needed a little bit of cash to pay off her roommates. And then she would quit. Natalie is an art student At NYU, struggling financially and living paycheque to paycheque with no end to the struggle in sight. But how does her friend/fellow student manage it. Shealways have such nice clothing? And be able to eat in nice restaurants? When Ava takes her to her posh apartment one day, Natalie finds out the secret that Ava has. And why Ava always has money and nice things. Ava is a sugar baby. But Natalie couldn’t do that. She isn’t a prostitute. But Ava outlines the expectations and how Natalie could control the situations and what is required in a “date”. She could get hundreds of dollars for joining someone for a drink. And sex doesn’t need to be included, unless she wants to. After giving it some thought, and circumstances that forced the issue, Natalie decides to go through with it. But no sex. And only a couple of times until she’s paid her roommates back. It seems like a simple arrangement. She can control everything. Do what she wants. See who she wants. Except she can’t. She didn’t count on emotions. She didn’t count on the hold someone could have on her. She didn’t count on not being the one in control. She didn’t count on Gabe. And before too long, Natalie is a mess, an obsessive train wreck and her life is spinning out of control. This is another smash hit by Robyn Harding. She is one author that doesn’t have a predictable style. When you read an author with multiple books, often there is a similar style and similar outcome and things are predictable. Not so with Robyn Harding. Her novels are fresh and original. Her last few have been in the psychological thriller genre and both “the party” and “her pretty face” were both excellent reads. This one is as well. We are given a glimpse into the very real life of sugar babies and sugar daddies. How they work, who are their clients, what are the expectations and how they can fail. While I don’t think I am naive by any means, I was astounded at the amount of money exchanging hands sometimes without a lot of return for their money. And while I know everything isn’t the same for everyone, it does intrigue me how people can keep emotions out of it.While Natalie may seem to be an unlikable character to many, I actually found myself liking her and having a soft spot for her. A lot of what she does is questionable but the way she is portrayed in the book, for me, I just wanted to hug her and protect her. This book was so hard to put down. While I could feel disaster happening, this book was so engrossing. I wanted to forget everything else and devour the book all at once. I will eagerly await Ms Harding’s next release. Thank you to the publisher and net galley for allowing me the privilege of reading this book by sending me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Natalie “Nat” Murphy is chasing a dream at New York’s School of Visual Arts. Nat has a gift. What she doesn’t have is money. To pay for school, her rent on the apartment she shares with two problematic roommates. Calling home for help isn’t an option. Too much history, too much baggage. But a friend shows her an alternate way. Step into the world of Sugar Baby-Sugar Daddy. Reluctantly, Nat does just that, finding a wonderful and very wealthy benefactor. Her money problems evaporate and her relationship with her Sugar Daddy blossoms. Unfortunately, all is not rosy. Alcohol abuse and obsession turn to anger to rage and to murder. But who killed who, and why? A well-told story that will keep you engaged until the very end.DP Lyle, award-winning author of the Jake Longly and Cain/Harper thriller series

Linda's Book Obsession Review "The Arrangement" by Robyn Harding, Gallery/Scout Press, July 30, 2019If you love mystery, suspense, psychological thrillers, and fiction, and an intense, intriguing, captivating, riveting, novel, I have a book recommendation for you!!Kudos to Robyn Harding, Author of "The Arrangement" for writing such a page-turning and entertaining novel. I could not put this book down, and read it in one sitting!! The author describes her colorful cast of characters as complex, complicated, flawed, and dysfunctional.Especially young college and career driven girls find that college, schools and living expenses get out of hand. Some have to work several jobs and struggle to study. Natalie is a young art student finding it difficult to balance her life. After meeting a friend that seems to have it all, Natalie decides that the solution for her is to find a "Sugar Daddy", someone who will pay her expenses plus. Natalie is told that you have to go online, and often older men just want someone to listen to them, and sex is sometimes not necessary or negotiable. Of course, she would have to dress up and use makeup. Natalie does meet Gabe, an older man, and feels that he is the one for her.  Of course, Natalie is not told that Gabe is married, and has visions of forever in her mind. In this time setting, there are rules. Natalie really has no clue how dangerous Gabe can be, and Gabe has no clue what Natalie is capable of.  In this game, there are twists and turns, betrayals, secrets, lies, and murder.  If you want to find out what happens, I recommend and suggest you read "The Arrangement" by Robyn Harding. Happy Reading!!!!

Natalie is a broke college girl whose bad situation turns worse with a job loss and disagreeable roommates. She has a friend, though, who is able to afford anything she wants. Natalie wants to know how this is possible. Turns out, she just needs to become a sugar baby, and find a sugar daddy. Natalie decides to do it. She becomes well acquainted with a handsome affluent older man. Obviously, he's her sugar daddy. Natalie, stupidly, falls in love with him, but he's married and will never ruin his great life for her. Natalie can't process this rejection, and she's very upset. The Arrangement tells a suspenseful and entirely plausible story about what happens when the sugar baby will not let go of the sugar daddy. It's entertaining for sure, and I enjoyed the drama. It's a great read overall. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
