About this audiobook

Lovably troublesome Gladie Burger runs into sizzling danger and a fiery love triangle in the second installment of Elise Sax's hilarious and sexy Matchmaker Mysteries series.

Since joining the family matchmaking business run by her eccentric and psychic Grandma Zelda, Gladie is always looking for love. But when an unbearable toothache knocks her out of commission and into the dentist's chair, she prays only for relief. No such luck. Emerging from an anesthetic haze, Gladie awakes to find that not only is her tooth still throbbing, but her dentist is dead-and the lead suspect in the murder, office receptionist Belinda, just so happens to be Gladie's first real client. Now it's up to Gladie to find Belinda a man and keep her from being locked up behind bars.

As if that weren't enough distraction, two gorgeous men are vying for Gladie's attention: Spencer, the playboy chief of police, and Holden, Gladie's secretive, gorgeously muscled neighbor. Still, Gladie's not complaining about having a helping hand or two when the case leads her to a dangerously bizarre cult. She may have met her match-and if she's not careful, it could be her last.

This is the re-release of Matchpoint. It is the same book with a new title and cover.

Laugh out loud funny with a side of man candy. I loved it even more than the first and am looking forward to book #3!

My DH tells me that the first time he saw this book on my bedside table he immediately thought "What kind of crap is she reading!?" Thereby proving the adage that you can't judge a book by it's cover. But boy can I judge this cover. Yuck. This cover has nothing to do with the story at all, which leads me to my next point: The publisher has this book listed under contemporary romance. ?!?! It and it's predecessor (also with an awful cover, btw) are murder mysteries, first and foremost. This book has exactly 1 almost-but-not sex scene and 2 kisses. In the whole book. And almost no romance and only one romantic setting. What it *does* have is a murder, attempted murder and a scarecrow that will scare the hell out of more than just the birds. This is a hell of a good murder mystery. Gladie is training to be a matchmaker and follow in her Grandmother Zelda's footsteps. Gladie isn't my favorite MC of all time, I'd prefer she be more fiscally responsible instead of revelling in debt. (I like my heroines to be responsible, even if they can't be pulled together at times.) But she is a hoot and I do like her. There are some great slapstick moments in Gladie's life. She struggles to make matches for others, and of course, her own love life is all over the place. She's actively got the hots for her very mysterious neighbour with no history and she has the involuntary hots for the Police Chief who is the poster child for womanisers. It's sort of hard to know who to cheer on, but there's more comedic gold here, especially with the Police Chief. Grandma Zelda is widely regarded to be a witch and there are quite a few things she says throughout the book that implies she is at least psychic. I love Grandma Zelda. The "lessons" from her at the beginning of each chapter are entertaining and sometimes priceless (I had to read the one on waxing out loud to my DH). She never leaves her house but always manages to be at the centre of everything happening in Cannes, California. What's happening in Cannes now is an invasion of Pagan's awaiting the Arrival. They've taken over the town and hilarity is right around the corner. Collapsing yurts, broken chakras, donkeys and public fornication - Oh! and a truly gold moment with a steel pipe. Truly, the scene where we get to "hear" the police radio band had me giggling out loud. It is truly a comedic sub-plot for much of the book. The main plot, the murder of the town's dentist, was really well crafted. Suspects abound and I never had a clear suspicion of who committed the gruesome murder. In the end there was a bit of a twist, and I ended up not seeing it coming at all. I love when that happens! My only nitpick with the plot isPolice Chief Spencer Bolton makes a comment about mid-way through the book indicating that a poisonous plant is what ultimately killed the dentist - this is never, ever followed up on. I'm not sure if it's an oversight or if I missed the point of that scene (perhaps it's meant to intimidate a witness or throw someone off balance...). Throughout all of this, Gladie is desperately trying to make a match for a client. All in all it's a really fun read, and I am really looking forward to the third book.

Book 2 of the Matchmaker series. I liked the humor here. Spencer is hiding out in Gladie's bedroom from his Facebook friends but we really don't know why. We assume the reason but I don't know if I'm right or not. I liked how Gladie handled him and his friends. I also liked that we learn more about Holden. I laughed out loud many times through this book. I love her sidekicks and Grandma. Doomsdayers and conservatives, a flying donkey, matchmaking, dental pain, and murder. How much fuller can Gladie's life get? I can't say but I'm willing to find out in the next book.

I read the previous book and felt it left a lot of gaps in character development. I felt this book really worked out that issue and I really enjoyed it. I laughed out loud several times and while the aliens topic was a little much for me it did lead to A LOT of humor for the story. I will definitely read the next installment just to see how our matchmaker makes out with her men :-)

Sax (An Affair to Dismember, 2013) returns to the madcap world of matchmaker-in-training Gladie Burger (under the tutelage of her grandmother, Zelda), but this installment pales in comparison as the author whips up a hippie invasion, hair problems, a parasailing donkey, and a grisly murder. After having her hair straightened, Gladie is talked into having her cavities filled by dentist Dr. Doulur, who is not only killed while she’s under anesthesia, but his face is removed. Much to the chagrin of her boyfriend, the enigmatic Holden, and police chief Spencer, Gladie and her group of friends charge right into the investigation. Meanwhile, the peaceful town of Cannes, California, is overrun by a cult that believes aliens will shortly arrive by way of the nearby mountain. But Spencer is hiding in Gladie’s bedroom rather than doing his job because his Facebook girlfriends living in Cannes have found out about each other and are out to get him. — Pat Henshaw

I have now had the opportunity to read both of the books in the Matchmakers series by Elise Sax. The second book Matchpoint kept me just as enthralled as the first, An Affair to Dismember. Ms. Sax has a great way of telling a good mystery as well as a very humorous story. I was not only in suspense wondering who exactly had killed Dr. Dulur but I also found myself laughing a lot during this book.I really like Gladie, that girl can get her self in to some really sticky situations but has so far been lucky to have someone come to her rescue just in time. Gladie tries her best to be a good matchmaker but she just doesn't have her grandmother's natural talent. She does seem to have a natural talent for solving murders even if she tries her best to stay uninvolved. I loved how she would try to take a step back and another person would drag her back in. Gladie has an interesting relationship with the HOT mystery man next door, Holden. Holden has a few secrets unveiled in this story. There is also Spencer the hot police chief that seems to have a very nasty case of Happy Pants, that got him in some trouble. Spencer finds the need to take some down time from all the women in his life and ends up staying with Gladie. Gladie and Spencer have another interesting relationship. Gladie isn't sure she wants anything to do with Spencer after a few run ins with the women in his life. Over all this was a very intriguing mystery, I was somewhat surprised by who the culprit is. I love to laugh when reading and Ms. Sax has inter weaved some hilarious moments in her mystery. If you enjoy a good book with mystery and humor, you really should check out Elise Sax's Matchmaker series. I can't wait for the next book in the Matchmaker series to see what trouble Gladie can get herself in next.

Cute second installment in the Matchmaker series. I didn't like it as much as I did the first book, but it had its moments. Really like the chemistry between the heroine and the sheriff. There is more to tell about those two, I think. Fun beach read or a good story to snuggle up with on a cool fall night with a glass of wine.

The town of Cannes is besieged by a cult-like group, awaiting the Arrival of some alien types from the nearby Mountain. Gladie is still trying to make it as a matchmaker, and her first official client works at at dental office,a place Gladie generally tries to avoid at all costs. When the dentist ends up dead, her client is under suspicion and Gladie puts on her investigator hat again. There's a lot of goofiness at the beginning of the book and I think the storyline could have been streamlined a bit, but it was another fun read for summer.

"Matchpoint" is the second novel in this hilarious-suspense-romance series by Sax. In this book, Gladie continues to live her live with her grandmother in this town full of wacko, crazy folks and friends, she seems to have better luck (or rather bad luck) in solving the murder mystery, and found herself a magnet to corpse and murderer than match-making business. While she's having a bad week with toothache, the whole town was invaded by alien worshipers, the town handsome chief police is hiding out in her bedroom, she was able to solve the mystery of who her handsome neighbor, Holden really is, what he does for a living, and where he's gone to all this time, he could have been her real, you know. If you are looking for a chick lit with laugh-out-loud suspense romance to read, this book would be it. Although, I like the first book better, it gets into the meaty part faster than this second book and will get you laughing right from the start, still you won't be disappointed with Matchpoint and will enjoy it.

In this second book in the series, Gladie continues to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This time she is out cold in the dentist's chair when said dentist is killed and has his face removed. I know, gross. And the town has been invaded by alien worshippers who are convinced the alien apocalyse is right around the corner and happening right on the town's mountain. Much confused hilarity ensues. If you like a lttle mystery and humor with your chick lit you must give this series a try. The town is getting weirder and weirder but in the best possible way. Gladie is having near sex with one guy and trying not to like another hot guy. It is just too much fun.

This is the second book in the Matchmaker series and boy was it jam packed full of wackiness! We finally get a bit more info on the mysterious hunky Holden from next door, plus we learn a bit more about Gladie's other love interest, the magic penis man himself - Chief of Police Spencer. (How lucky can a spunky girl with frizzy hair get?!) The mystery kept me guessing until about the middle (although I suspected the correct villian from the beginning but that's because I'm thoroughly jaded at this point) where I was able to firm up my guess and there were a couple of nice red herrings thrown in to spice things up. I enjoyed this zany outing with Gladie and I will be on the lookout for the next installment.FTC Note: I received this book from the publisher and the Early Reviewers Program on Library Thing. No compensation for my review was given.

Matchpoint by Elise Sax is the second book in her Matchmaker Series. Gladie Burger is back and the continuing story just keeps getting better. The story picks less than a mother after An Affair to Dismember ended and brings back all your favorite characters from the first book adding more and more laughs. Thankfully we still get to hear about Cannes, California’s sexy police chief, Spencer, who just can’t seem to stay away from Gladie and Holden, her even sexier neighbor who can’t keep his hands off of her!Gladie is on to her second paying client wanting to be “matched” with the perfect mate. While visiting her client, an office receptionist to a dentist, Gladie ends up entwined in another murder mystery. Add to that, the madcap happenings in and around Gladie and you get a story that is reminiscent of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum and her love triangle and crazy happenings.Elise Sax wrote a laugh out loud, hysterically funny and yet sweet story that will keep you coming back wanting to hear more about Gladie’s adventures which continue in Match and Release scheduled to be release in February of 2014.

I like books in a series. I had not read the first book, and thought the second book could have used more set up earlier to have it stand alone better. I was somewhat in the dark about who Gladie was and why she ended up in Cannes. I enjoyed the development of the story, complete with two potential boyfriends, the crazy invading hippies and a murder to solve. This books lacked a finite conclusion - it was clear there was going to be another installment coming,

I think I liked this one even more than the first one! Gladie cracks me up! Heck - they all do! From the hippies waiting on the alien invasion, to the murdered dentist mystery and the super hot Holden/Spencer love triangle - who can get enough! Humor, steamy scenes, mystery, romance - it's all here! Not so patiently waiting on book 3 of this series!I received this book in exchange for an honest review for netgalley.
