Описание

A supernatural force on the loose in San Francisco and a family reunion keeps witch and vintage storeowner Lily Ivory on her toes as she prepares to walk down the aisle . . .

When Lily Ivory stumbles on the uniform of a former prisoner from Alcatraz and SFPD inspector Carlos Romero's cousin is kidnapped, Lily suspects something dangerous has been unleashed on the ghost-ridden island of Alcatraz. She'll have to sleuth out the culprit—when she's not busy entertaining her visiting relatives and resolving romantic conflicts as her wedding date approaches. Could recent omens be pointing to the magical threat in her adopted city? If so, she'll have to line up her allies to change the fate of the Bay Area. Because no matter what, Lily's determined to celebrate her marriage with her friends by her side—even if it means battling a demonic foe before she can make it to the altar.

I don't want to give it away but thankfully one of the main things on Lily's to do list...actually 2 things...were accomplished by the end! She had been talking about this stuff for at least 2 novels now! But I'm wondering if it will be the last in the series because she tied things up so well... But we still haven't found Oscar's Mom so surely not!

One of my favorite series, and this entry is one of the best.

Goings on at Alcatraz with the kidnapping of Carlos Romero's cousin. Lily is finally getting married if the world will get out of the way.

In Bewitched and Betrothed there was much taking place for vintage clothing storeowner Lily Ivory. Her time was sparse as it was with her upcoming handfasting to her beau, Sailor, that the last thing she needed was a piece of clothing to enter her shop that had the most sinister feel to it. Despite wishing that she had never laid eyes on the shirt, a shirt that seemed to have been a prisoner’s shirt from the famous Alcatraz, Lily does her best to nullify the evil vibes that the thing carried and make it as safe as she could. With that done, all she wanted was to get back to planning her honeymoon but when her friend, who had been given the shirt, was taken, and all signs pointed to her abduction being tied to the ex-prison itself, Lily has to set her wants and desires aside to do what she does best, investigate, and hope to survive the all-out magical war that seems to be looming on the horizon. There was a lot to appreciate in this story with the famous Alcatraz prison being a central part. I liked the history and fantasy that was weaved surrounding the prison and current day tourist attraction. I know if I ever go there to visit that I will have this story in mind. In addition to the mystery element, there were many high emotions surrounding Lily’s upcoming handfasting. Lily had much to deal with when it came to her fiancé’s family, her family, and her grandmother’s coven. There was also one character introduced that made little sense to me on why she was added. I don’t see her character continuing in this series so to me it was more like she was a filler to add drama and solidify what was between Lily and Sailor. I could have done without all of that but it would appeal to some readers. Overall, Bewitched and Betrothed was a nice addition to this series and I am excited to see what takes place in the next installment. This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Berkley Prime Crime. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
