About this audiobook
Rosa Santos is cursed by the sea—at least, that's what they say. Dating her is bad news, especially if you're a boy with a boat. But Rosa feels more caught than cursed—caught between cultures and choices, between her abuela, a beloved healer and pillar of their community, and her mother, an artist who crashes in and out of her life like a hurricane. She's constantly caught between Port Coral, the quirky South Florida town they call home, and Cuba, the island her abuela refuses to talk about. As her college decision looms, Rosa collides—literally—with Alex Aquino, the mysterious boy with tattoos of the ocean whose family owns the marina. With her heart, her family, and her future on the line, can Rosa break a curse and find her place beyond the horizon?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5a beautifully written, atmospheric homage to love, family & culture
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The tagline is "Practical Magic meets Gilmore Girls" and I would say that is spot on! This is a generational story about family, the choices that form us, a little bit of magic and lots of love.
While there is a really cute romance in this story, that isn't what our main focus in on. Rosa is about to be a new high school grad, who is wrapping up her two year college degree at the same time. She thinks she knows what she wants to do next but things are turning out to be not so simple. Between family curses, small town drama, a new boy in town and other issues that go along with being an immigrant family. We end up with a complex and beautiful story full of ups and downs. The characters are raw and full of life. The culture is rich enough to taste and the romance is sweet. I smiled, I swooned, I laughed, I cried - a lot. There's a lot of year to go but this just might make my list of favorite books of 2019. It deserves it's own movie, you should probably read it.

- To All the Boys I've Loved Before - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I adored this book. I wish I had read more than 3 pages at the outset, because then I would have been hooked and it wouldn't have taken me so dang long to finish it. This book gave me a tiny taste of a family and a community and a culture, and it left me happy and wistful at the same time. I loved Rosa's voice, authentically young and melodramatic and earnest and driven all at once. I loved the relationships in this book and the descriptions of food, and the sweet romance that lifted Rosa up without asking her to change herself. This was a lovely book, and I can't wait to recommend it to the teens at my library.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley to read in exchange for an honest review.
