About this audiobook

It’s love. Trust me.

After a lifetime on the move, Ivy Snow is an expert in all things temporary—schools, friends, and way too many Mr. Wrongs. Now that she owns a successful taco truck in San Francisco and an apartment to call home, Ivy’s reinvented life is on solid ground. And she’s guarded against anything that can rock it. Like the realities of a past she’s worked hard to cover up. And especially Kel O’Donnell. Too hot not to set off alarms, he screams temporary. If only his whispers weren’t so delightfully naughty and irresistible.

Kel, an Idaho sheriff and ranch owner, is on vacay, but Ivy’s a spicy reason to give his short-term plans a second thought. Best of all, she’s a tonic for his untrusting heart, burned once and still in repair. But when Ivy’s past intrudes on a perfect romance, Kel fears that everything she’s told him has been a perfect lie. Now, if only Ivy’s willing to share, Kel will fight for a true love story.

Terrific story of two people who find it hard to trust. Ivy has been on the move her entire life. Raised by a flaky mother, and with a troublemaker brother, Ivy set out on her own when she was sixteen. After years of moving from place to place, she's ready to put down some roots. She has made some friends, owns a successful taco truck, and is saving up for a place of her own. I loved her determination to succeed, her independence, and her kind heart. I ached for her and the vulnerability that made her reluctant to open herself up completely. She's been burned multiple times and trusting people is hard to do.Kel is a sheriff in Sunshine Idaho (Animal Magnetism series). He is in San Francisco visiting his cousin Caleb (Playing for Keeps) and helping Caleb with his business. Kel was recently injured in the line of duty at the same time he was betrayed by someone close to him. Added to family issues, Kel also has trouble trusting. Keeping his emotions closed off protects him from being hurt.Ivy and Kel meet through mutual friends when they come to Ivy's Taco Truck. I loved their initial meeting and the banter that they exchanged. Ivy was still on his mind that night when he found her at her vandalized taco truck. I loved their back-and-forth as he insisted on helping her, her "prickly as a porcupine" attitude drawing him in rather than turning him off. I loved Kel's determination to get closer to Ivy, and the charm and patience he used to do so. I loved watching Kel chip away at Ivy's walls, not realizing that she did the same to his. Both Kel and Ivy resisted the idea that there was more than chemistry between them, even though everyone around them could see it. They had just started admitting that there might be something special growing between them when Ivy's brother made an unwelcome appearance. I ached for Ivy, who could see her beautiful new life disintegrating in front of her. I wanted to smack Kel for his boneheaded actions and words. Though I hurt for Ivy and the pain he caused her, I loved how she stood up to him. I enjoyed the way that Ivy's friends rallied around her and the effect it had on Ivy's entire outlook. A lecture from Caleb made Kel realize that he had to face his past before he could pursue the future. I loved his big moment at the end. It was sweet and romantic. The epilogue was a nice touch. I loved seeing the changes in their lives and the surprise that Kel had for Ivy.I love how earlier characters wander in and out of the story. As Kel's cousin, Caleb has a significant role, but he's also a good friend to Ivy. I loved the morning kickboxing classes and the comradeship it built. Tina made me laugh with her "inspirational" statements and her ability to motivate her students. I loved the closeness of the friendships and how they are there for each other when needed.

This was another great read from Jill Shalvis. I have been with the Heartbreaker Bay series since it started and have looked forward to each installment. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone but readers of the series will enjoy catching up with well-loved characters. This series has been consistently good so I went into it with rather high expectations and it was just as good as I hoped it would be.This book is Ivy and Kel's story. Ivy is part of the friend group that is at the core of this series. She runs the taco truck and has finally started to put down some roots. She moved around a lot growing up and learned how to take care of herself. She is really hesitant to think about anything long term since her plans don't usually work out. Kel is Cal's cousin from Idaho. He works as a sheriff and runs the family ranch but is helping his cousin out while he takes a bit of a break. Kel also is bothered by things from his past which is having a big impact on his present.I loved these two together. They had wonderful chemistry with each other and I felt like they had a lot in common. They both just seemed to be a little bit better when they were together. I loved the way that Kel watched out for Ivy and felt protective towards her. Ivy was able to help Kel make progress with the demons from his past. They were both hesitant to think long term but the pull towards each other was so great they couldn't stay away from each other.I would highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This was a fantastic romance with fantastic characters and just the right amount of heat. While this is a Christmas story, the festive details were extremely minor so it would be a great book to pick up at any time of the year. I can't wait to read more in this wonderful series.I received a digital review copy of this book from Tasty Book PR via Book Funnel.

2.5 starsI received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Ivy has been on her own since she was sixteen but lately, she wants to put some roots down. She's slowly starting to warm up to her group of friends and the new guy Kel, is catching her eye.Kel is on leave from his job as a sheriff after being betrayed by one of his cops. When his cousin introduces him to Ivy, he's instantly attracted to her and her spicy tacos.Ivy and Kel have family drama and they're both scared to open up but they just can't stay away from each other. She wanted him. Quite badly, if her racing pulse meant anything. He was so . . . what, exactly? Steady? Tough? Intense and yet somehow easygoing, not to mention also extremely easy on the eyes?Eighth in the Heartbreaker series, Wrapped Up in You gives a little bit of a crossover with Kel from the Animal Magnetism series. I haven't read any other books in Heartbreaker and that might have hurt some of the emotional connections I was missing. Characters that were stars from previous books, acting as secondary characters here, were never overwhelming to me as a newcomer but I never fully felt the friendship between the women and Ivy or a emotional familial connection between Kel and his cousin. Kel and Ivy spend the majority of the time together and are the focus, which works for highlighting their relationship, but it hurt my feeling their connection to the world Shalvis has created.Kel's background in Idaho and all the drama that went down there happened away from this book and his utter lack of desire to return to what was his home gave more of missing piece to his character for me rather than emphasizing his desire to stay in California for and with Ivy and his family. His family drama with his mother also felt tacked on as I struggled to get a sense of Kel, let alone his secondary family members and their relationship.I connected with Ivy's character more, her family drama and relationship with brother provided some end of story angst. I would have liked more scenes with her and her friends to get more of a feel and emotional connection to why she suddenly wanted to put down roots in this city (as a new reader to the series, something that continuous readers might have a better feel for). But he slowly pulled back and ran a thumb along her jawline. “I knew you were going to be trouble the very first moment I laid eyes on you.”“Hello, I’ve been trying to tell you that very thing!”Snatching her hand in his, he grinned at her, a very sexy, very naughty grin, as if maybe he thought she was the very best kind of trouble, and led her through the alley to his truck.Ivy and Kel had an immediate attraction and they act on wanting each other pretty quickly; I think it was around 20% the question of if they're a “we” was being discussed. I personally enjoy more of a building up and thought their relationship lacked the certain fun and sexy vibe Shalvis can sometimes give her lead's relationship.Overall, Shalvis stories are always readable but with Kel's seeing his mother cheat on his father and feelings of abandonment, Ivy's brother struggling with going straight and the slight danger element from this, and their two week romance that lead to a together forever I couldn't quite feel and believe in, this lacked the Shalvis joie de vivre that keeps me reading her books.

I love this series. The characters are so much fun-I wish I knew them in real life. It’s fun seeing characters I’ve enjoyed over several books finally get their HEA. Jill Shalvis writes some of the best, most fun romances!!

Wrapped Up In You by Jill ShalvisHeartbreaker Bay #8Ivy Snow and Kel O’Donnell are an unlikely couple with Kel valuing honesty above just about anything while Ivy willingly hides her past behind some whopping fibs. The way they meet is spicier than Kel’s tastebuds would usually prefer as Ivy offers him a taco from her taco truck...but what a delightful way to meet! As book eight in the series one might think there are no more stories to be told but that is definitely NOT true as I still need to hear how more than one character meets their match through a coin tossed in the magic fountain! What I liked: * Ivy – what a strong, independent and caring woman she is! To have gone through all she did and come out so well is a major statement about her character and coping skills* Kel – a book boyfriend worthy of Ivy with his calm, steady and ability to slow things down and get to the bottom of things.* Family – there is so much of it in this series whether truly related by blood or chosen by the group. They are thre for one another no matter what.* Learning what Kel learned when he finally talked to his mother* The ability of people to make changes, grow and become better* Heartbreaker Bay – what a wonderful place it would be to live* The smile it put on my face while reading, at the end and now a day laterWhat I didn’t like: * Hmm...there were some criminals that were dislike-worthy and one person I was angry with but he sort of redeemed himself so...in fact...there wasn’t really anything I disliked about this book because the bad had to happen for the good to take place.Did I like this book? Definitely! Will I read more in this series and by this author? Without a doubt! Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

I was beyond excited to see that Kel was going to be featured in Wrapped Up in You. I remember him from the Animal Magnetism series and was so happy to hear he was going to be the main love interest in Wrapped Up in You.I absolutely loved Ivy. She's bit of tough nut, continuously moving from place to place and never settling down, but you can tell that she wants to. The awesome people of Heartbreaker Bay are not letting her go easily. They encourage her to open up, to be a part of their family. Ivy, of course, resists whole lot, but they wear her down.Ivy keeps a lot of things close to her chest and also has a tendency to lie about her family. On one hand, it's not cool, but on the other hand I get it. Ivy's family doesn't have the most stellar reputation and she doesn't want people to know about it. However, Ivy does come to the realization that they are true friends and won't judge her for it.I loved Kel and Ivy together. Kel worked to push her boundaries and help her to see her true potential. He was a tad frustrating at time (what male isn't) but had a good heart. My only issue with Wrapped Up in You is a small one. The plot involving Ivy's brother added to the story, but I felt like it got wrapped up super quick at the end, I wish there had been a little more there. As always, Jill Shalvis comes through with a heartfelt book that was impossible to put down. A one sitting read for sure!
