About this audiobook

In the second novel in the Wildflower House series, the author of The Memory of Butterflies reminds us that to achieve our dreams, we must first open our hearts.

Kara Hart suffered overwhelming heartache when she lost her mother and husband, and her father’s sudden death might be the blow that breaks her—unless she turns her grief into purpose. She’ll finish renovating his Victorian mansion in rural Virginia, but with her own twist. She’ll turn the old house into a creative retreat for artists and writers.

Kara has never tackled a project this big alone, and she’s not ready to open her heart to others for help. But the locals open their hearts to her—including two who have the potential to be more than friends. She tells herself she doesn’t need romance or distractions, but maybe that’s exactly what she needs. When her former best friend reenters Kara’s life, it could be the distraction that finally destroys her—or heals her.

The tragedies in Kara’s life have damaged her self-confidence, but she presses forward, gradually lowering her protective walls and allowing others in little by little. Will bringing Wildflower House back to life and freeing her own creative spirit also allow her to open her heart to hope and happiness—and maybe even love?

I had read and reviewed the first book in the Wildflower House series in November of 2018, and was so excited to have the opportunity to read and review this second book continuing the story of Kara Lange Hart. Her story is an inspiration of resilience. On the heels of a serious car accident came the death of her father whom she was just getting to really know. The emotional upheaval in Kara's life caused her to depend more and more on medication. Wildflower Hope is a beautiful story of getting back up,standing on one's own two feet, while allowing oneself to share burdens with those who offer healthy support. The Wildflower house itself becomes as much a character in this story as it is a setting. It certainly becomes a place the reader will wish were not fiction, but one to be truly visited. So grab a cup of tea and find a quiet spot to spend some time with Kara in her beautiful, transforming home, or in one of the many quite nooks on the property. You will be more than happy you did.I am grateful to have received a copy of Wildflower Hope from the author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation.

Wildflower Hope continues the story of Kara, a young woman who has seen multiple losses in her life, the most recent being the death of her father. Having read the first and third books in the series, I was looking forward to filling in some of the details I had missed in this second book. I was not disappointed. The characters are people you would want to be your friends as they are realistic and relatable. As Kara continues the renovations to a house her father bought, she meets several challenges and it is interesting to see how she works through and overcomes them. Wildflower Hope is a lovely story of healing and growing, of love and forgiveness. I am looking forward to reading more from this talented author. Amanda Dolan does a nice job narrating Kara's story which makes for an enjoyable listening experience. I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook and was not required to leave a review.

Kara has been thru a lot in her life, first with her Mother’s leaving, marriage issues, then a horrific accident and rehab, then her father’s death. She takes over a home her father has bought and has a vision. But she needs to come to turn with all her issues first.

I did not read the first Wildflower House Book, but had heard so much about it that I jumped to read the second. With that being said, I don’t feel that I missed much by not reading the first one. I picked up what happened in Book #1 with the author’s flashback. I enjoyed the beautiful, descriptive writing, but found the characters and I just did not connect. The book dragged somewhat, and I kept waiting for something big to happen, but was disappointed.

Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union for this ARC. Opinion is my own.

Wildflower Hope, the second book in The Wildflower House series, is a great follow up to Wildflower Heart, although it can easily be read as a standalone. Kara had a tough childhood and her marriage didn’t work out as she had dreamed it would. Her father has always been a strong part of her life but not the best communicator. They were just deepening their relationship and finally starting to really talk at Wildflower House when he suddenly died. Kara knows she can’t let this latest grief overtake her and resolves to finish renovating her dad’s Victorian mansion in rural Virginia but will turn it into a creative retreat for artists and writers. She has never attempted anything like this before and plodding through while trying to manage her grief, and what she doesn’t acknowledge is her addiction to pain killers, won’t be easy. But she feels so at home in the lovely, vividly portrayed Virginia countryside that she is sure the effort will be well worth it.This is a story with delightful characters and a strong plot that keeps you engrossed until the very last page. It’s a story about family and friendship and hope and just putting one foot after the other, as many times as it takes. Kara does move forward and become stronger, but not without struggles and setbacks and questionable choices. Kara and Seth have just met and she really feels a connection, but maybe she latches on to him a little too firmly, building hope that may be false, assuming – or desperately hoping? – that his dreams are hers.It was a joy to accompany Kara on her journey. She is much stronger than she realizes but appealingly vulnerable at the same time. The romance is sweet. I can’t wait to continue the journey with Kara and the rest of the characters in this beautiful Virginia setting. Thanks to the author and NetGalley for providing an advance copy for my honest review.

Linda's Book Obsession Review's  "Wildflower Hope" by Grace Greene, Lake Union, September 24, 2019Grace Greene, Author of "Wildflower Hope" has written the second book in "The Wildflower House Series". This can be read as a stand-alone. The Genres for this novel are Fiction and Women's Fiction with Romance.   This is an emotional, intriguing, and dramatic novel. I love the way the author vividly describes and writes about the renovations of the house, the landscape, the gardening, and the planning. The author describes her characters as complex and complicated.Kara Hart has known tragedy and is starting to pull herself together after her father's death. She decides she wants to renovate the house as a retreat, and plans for parking and gardens for the land.  Kara is ambivalent at times and insecure and doubts that she can pull this off. She does have the support of people helping her if she will let them in.I love the way the author discusses the importance of self-worth, second chances, new beginnings, and forgiveness.  The author also mentions the importance of family, friends, neighbors, love, and hope. I would recommend this entertaining story for those readers who enjoy women's fiction.

When I found out that Wildflower Hope was the second book in The Wildflower House series I, of course, had to grab a copy of Wildflower Heart to read first. I empathized with Kara Lange Hart and all that she suffered: the devastation caused by her mother leaving her at age 14, learning that her husband wanted a divorce on the night of their sixth anniversary followed by a car accident resulting in his death and the loss of their unborn child, as well as the severe injuries Kara suffered in the accident. Kara had been forced to sell her marital home, enter rehab for continued physical therapy, was living with her father in Richmond VA and then learned he sold his business and was relocating to a small town and rehabbing a house. Kara and her father hadn't been in the house very long when her father suddenly dies. Now she's stuck with this house in the countryside and unsure of what to do next. Just when it seems like her life might be getting back on even keel, her burgeoning love life takes an unexpected twist, an old friend reveals a secret that Kara can't deal with, a new friend seems to want more than Kara may be able to give, and Kara's plans for the future of the Wildflower House may be a bit more than she can cope with at this point in her life. Can she move forward with so much angst and uncertainty in her life or should she simply return to the tried and true routine job from her past?I enjoyed reading Wildflower Heart and Wildflower Hope. As previously stated, I initially empathized with all that Kara Lange Hart had to deal with in her life. This was partially due to the fact that her father seemed to have been a somewhat reserved and emotionally isolated man when Kara was young and raised Kara to be the same type of person. Unfortunately, Kara in addition to being a reserved and emotionally isolated person is one that dealt with a world that is black-and-white without any shades of gray. At times, she could be hyper-judgmental about those closest to her and somewhat prejudiced in her opinions of how people should behave or react in situations and circumstances. She apparently did this with her husband and with her best friend. It wasn't done to harm anyone, but apparently more of a defense mechanism in order to keep herself safe from being let down. I liked Kara's spunk and the zeal she put forth in working on the Wildflower House, but there were times when I didn't particularly like her and I think times she didn't particularly like herself. In many regards, I think Wildflower Hope can be seen as a coming-of-age story as much as it is a story of self-awareness, self-realization, friendship, love (romantic and otherwise), and hope for the future. I'm glad I got the chance to read Wildflower Hope and am hoping there will be more to come about The Wildflower House and Kara Lange Hart in the future.I received a digital review copy from the author/publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Kara and her father had big plans for Wildflower House, the large Victorian house that he purchased in Virginia. When he died, she was unsure if she could go on with his plans so she plans to make the house into a artist's retreat. There's a lot of renovation that needs to be done and as the house takes on a new life, so does Kara. She realizes that she has friends all over the small town area and that she has friends in her past who are willing to regain their friendships. I really enjoyed reading about Wildflower House and Kara again and hope that we see them in future books - I'm not ready to say goodbye for good."Wildflowers are tough. They root in unlikely, often hostile environments, yet they manage to grow and bloom." This quote not only refers to flowers but also to people's lives. You can find happiness no matter where you are.
