About this audiobook

New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant rounds up the hottest cowboys in Texas in her latest novel of no-holds-barred passion.

Audrey Martinez is a veterinarian who has devoted her whole life to the care and protection of horses-even if doing so leaves her little time for meeting a man. Who would have thought that a strange case of criminal horseplay would lead her to falling deeply, wildly in love? If only the man who makes her heart race faster than a wild mustang would let his guard down, that is . . .

Caleb Harper is no ordinary cowboy. Sure, he wears his hat, boots, and jeans like a second skin, and displays an easygoing charm that comes from years of working on the ranch. But with his military background, and Army buddies at his side, he is tried-and-true Texas tough. Audrey knows she can trust a man like Caleb to help her save horses. But can Caleb trust himself to resist his attraction to Audrey-or will the sparks of their desire end up getting them burned?

This romantic suspense title was filled with melodrama and insta-love.Audrey Martinez is an equine veterinarian who is called to a friend's auction yard when some of his horses are sick. Audrey loves horses and has a reputation as an excellent vet, but their illness baffles her. Audrey has been focused on her career especially since the death of her mother and her father's decision to leave the family. It is just Audrey and her younger sister Maddy now.Caleb Harper is a local ranch owner who has made a name for himself as a horse trainer since he left the Army and came back to begin his ranch with his brother Brice. He was raised by his sister Abby after his mother deserted the family when Caleb was six and Abby had just graduated from high school. Times were hard for them until Abby fell in love with rich rancher Clayton who helped her raise her brothers. Both Audrey and Caleb are relationship-shy. Caleb's sense of abandonment shows in his history of having one-night stands and not having any relationship last more than a day or two. Audrey has also had a series of short-term relationships. Maddy says that it is because she is looking for Prince Charming and no real man can measure up to her ideal man. But Caleb takes one look at Audrey when he comes to the auction barn and is fascinated. When Audrey is attacked and has her office ransacked, Caleb and his whole family take her and her sister under their wings and offers their protection. While trying to solve the mystery of who is poisoning the horses and why, Caleb and Audrey fall in love. Naturally, given their histories, there are bumps in the road. This was a nice romance albeit a little melodramatic. It is also third in a series but stands alone quite well.

So this is either second or third in series, I started with Brice's book but they seem to elude to situations that they went thru, so I am going to make sure since I do not want to miss out. This was Caleb's story along with his love interest Audrey. We all know that Caleb is a playboy with no plans on changing that. He ends up meeting Audrey and she is an equine vet who was called in to assist Dave and the horses that he cares for in his auction house. They know that something sinister is happening. But as we learned from this family they go all in and they basically make you part of their protection. Calab's and Audrey's interest is there and they both would time to develop more but they are not having the chance to do so..Entertaining..Good to read on Brice and Naomi..Rcvd and ARC at no cost to author..Voluntarily left my opinion and thoughts.

This is the first book I’ve read by Donna Grant. I liked the plot of the story overall and the camaraderie between characters since this is an established series. I was a bit put off by the flow of the story though. I felt that it was dragged out a bit especially when the main characters procrastinated over things. It made me feel like the pace of the story was sluggish and I found myself taking a break quite frequently. But I can say that I’m not discouraged as yet and will be reading the rest of the books in this series as well as her others. My Favorite Cowboy is the story of Caleb Harper, the youngest of the Harper siblings and the most troubled by being abandoned by their mother. Despite being the third book in the series, in which Caleb had already been introduced as a character, this story can be read as a standalone. The previous stories included Caleb as a boy and young adult but this time around Caleb is all man and he knows exactly what he wants in life: his business, his family, and meaningless sex. His days and nights were just as he wanted it, that was until a chance encounter with horse veterinarian Audrey Martinez filled his mind with a few ‘what if’ questions that he couldn’t rightfully answer.Audrey and Caleb both had personal issues stemming from their parent’s absence and it created walls around their hearts that made them both insecure and guarded. Those feelings shaped every interaction between the two characters and made the wins very sweet but there were also many instances of frustration as well. There were quite a few back and forth moments where an insecurity or fear of some sort would rear its ugly head and that could be a turn off to some readers. I can’t say I was a fan of the waffling but like I said, it did make the wins that much sweeter. This story had an interesting mystery, steamy romance, and fierce love for animals (especially horses), which are all aspects that most romance readers could appreciate. I liked it as well but I just wasn’t as drawn into the story as I would have liked. I wasn’t over the moon on what was taking place with the mystery or the romance and the ending was nice but I would have liked more from the mystery/suspense portion of the story. Overall, My Favorite Cowboy was an enjoyable read that would serve as a great series ender but I hope not because I would like to see the other characters in this series have their chance at a happily ever after. This review is based on a complimentary book I received from NetGalley. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.

I've received a ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

It was a slow start at the beginning of the novel that I debated rather or not I should drop it but I thought I would give it some time for the story to develop and I'm so glad I did.

The characters were really likable and the relationship didn't seem force nor rushed. I enjoyed the bubbling romance between Audrey and Caleb, their chemistry is impeccable. Highly recommend if you're looking for a romance novel with lots of twists and turns.

My Favorite Cowboy by Donna GrantHeart of Texas #3I remember starting this series with Abby down on her luck and falling in clover with Clayton. The best thing that ever happened to the Harpers just may have been Clayton East. In the second book Brice meet and fell for Naomi and in this book Caleb – the brother who planned never to marry – meets his match in veterinarian Audrey Martinez. I have a feeling that this series could continue as there is Maddy (Audrey’s sister) still without someone to love and two good friends of the Harpers and Easts that need to find someone – Cooper and Jace. And, is the sheriff married? If not, Danny might need a partner, too. Anyway, this book starts with sick horses at an auction house and the vet called in just happens to be Audrey. She does her best to save the horses...with mixed results. Security for the auction house is provided by Caleb, Brice and Clayton with Jace and Cooper there, too. So, animals are being harmed, someone is trying to set Audrey up to take a professional fall and there are some very bad things happening in the neighborhood...including murder. In the midst of this Caleb and Audrey manage to find one another, pursue the attraction then have falling out times that have to be corrected before a HEA can be achieved. There are also issues from their pasts that impact their ability to trust that also must be overcome. I still want to find out about Maddy, Jace, Cooper and Danny but at least there was some closure toward the end of the book on some of the family issues and that helped more than one character in the book.Who was the bad guy out to get Audrey? You will have to read the book to find out. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4 Stars

My Favorite Cowboy by Donna GrantFormer Green Beret cowboy meets successful equine vet where instant attraction changes their live long habits into singular commitment dreams. 3rd in the Heart of Texas series and can be read as a standalone romantic suspense.Lots of feels and emotions in this book. Plenty of empathetic tears as well as happy tears.Deep family connections and solid friendships make this series a joy to read. Secondary characters added depth and interest. Excerpt: “She slowly lowered her arms and then met his gaze. Caleb wanted to pull her against him, to wrap his arms around her and tell her it was going to be all right. It was a gesture he had done countless times with other women, but he wanted it to mean something this time. His brain froze, and instead of uttering reassuring words, Caleb sat there, seized by shock—and more than a little dismayed by what had just gone through his mind. He didn’t think about wanting more. With anyone. Ever.”Excerpt from My Favorite Cowboy by Donna GrantI received a copy of this from NetGalley.

My Favorite Cowboy is book three in the Heart of Texas series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Each book is about the journey of one member of the siblings to romance & if not acceptance, a way to deal with abandonment issues from their parents. Audrey is a veterinarian & has a mystery on her hands. Horses are dying on her friend’s ranch & she can’t figure out the cause. Soon it’s spreading to other customers & the pattern starts to point back to her. Audrey’s friend hires Caleb & the company he works for to protect Audrey & figure out what’s going on. Nobody counted on the attraction between Caleb & Audrey. Their individual issues with their parents & upbringing keep interfering with their growing relationship. Will it interfere with Caleb keeping her safe? This book was an excellent romantic suspense that pulled me in from the beginning. I enjoyed the relationships between the characters & watching them grow & develop. Both main characters had problems in the early years & had to learn to trust & accept the other person. They had to realize that it’s nice to depend on someone else once in a while. Good story!
