About this audiobook

She came at first for answers…now she’s back for you

Amateur viola player Rosie Chandler is the sole survivor of a crash which sends a group of musicians plunging into a lake. Convinced the accident was deliberate, but unable to recall what happened, she is determined to recover her lost memories and seeks out clinical psychologist Dr. Samantha Willerby.

But Rosie is hiding something....

Sam is immediately drawn to the tragic Rosie and as she helps her piece the fragments together, the police find disturbing new evidence which raises further questions. Why is Rosie so desperate to recover her worthless viola?

When Rosie insists they return to the lake to relive the fatal incident, the truth about Rosie finally emerges. Now Sam is the one seriously out of her depth....

A Samantha Willerby Mystery, Lost in the Lake is nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller that will leave you glancing over your shoulder. It can easily be heard as a stand-alone novel and will appeal to fans of authors like Ruth Ware, Clare Mackintosh, and C.L. Taylor.

Please note this is a revised edition of a book by the same title previously published in 2017.

It was alright?! I kept reading until the end because I wanted to find out what happened. The story however, was not completely believable. I had difficulty getting attached to the characters. Could have been good...

I listened to the first book yesterday and it was okay, then this one today & I felt the same way about them both.
I liked the concept of the first one better, I didn't enjoy this very much. I still finished it even although I felt it dragged out and I could see the direction the story was heading as well.
There were still inconsistencies with the main character, Sam, that I hoped might have been there to pull together a bit more as she developed. I still saw the same things that make her frustratingly naive, then she's supposed to be a mastermind at solving related things. A psychologist with major personality flaws and a messed up history has the potential for a really interesting character, but too many things are just thrown out there without being discussed, made part of the story, or tied together in the end. It's too vague to think it's all for reader interpretation.

I didn't like Con in the first book, and I don't think he was written to be a likeable character, and ultimately his actions were to blame for a major incident (if unintentionally) - a complex line. I didn't expect him to be a recurring character, and then expected more complexity there, but the pining made Sam sound rather pathetic at times - as if he was simply an ex she missed. There was no linking together of events, or even a hint at a complicated history between them - if the idea is to keep the books optional as stand-alone novels (which I personally dislike in a series).

In some ways, it's supposed to explore the psyche and goes deep, then those elements were shallow and underdeveloped.
The story was okay, but there was too much time spent on characters for the story to be the entire focus, so it felt too off-rhythm.

I don't think this series is for me, which disappoints me, because I have enjoyed elements of each story but not the overall books.
