Описание

Sarah Grayson and her feline ally, Elvis, are hot on the tail of a crafty killer in the newest installment of the New York Times best-selling Second Chance Cat mysteries.

Sarah Grayson owns a delightful secondhand shop in the small town of North Harbor, Maine, where she and her rescue cat, Elvis, are always finding themselves up to their whiskers in trouble. With the help of a quirky group of senior citizens—who call themselves Charlotte's Angels and work out of the store—they solve crimes both new and vintage.

Local squabbles about property development have the town in quite a state of drama—and it seems like someone may even be upset enough to kill. When a local man involved in the real estate quagmire falls over dead at a reception to celebrate the harbor front's redevelopment, Sarah gets roped in to investigate by her own IT expert, Mr. P., who has long known the victim's stepfather. Between Sarah, Elvis, and Charlotte's Angels, the killer is sure to have claws for concern.

What I really enjoyed most about reading Claw Enforcement was that Sarah didn’t argue with the members of Charlotte’s Angels this time around about every little thing in regards to their sleuthing intentions. Usually she has to be roped or guilted into helping with an investigation but in this case, she was all in from almost the start. Not saying that she immediately believed what Rose was speculating but Sarah did feel like something was not right with how the victim died. It seemed almost unbelievable given the victim’s age, etcetera. It was because of the facts not matching with what Sarah thought was probable that she felt an investigation was most likely necessary. It was really nice to have everyone on the same page this time around and Elvis, as always, was a little cutie .I might not have been reading this series for very long but even I was able to sense that there was a deepening connection between Mac and Sarah. In the last book I was wondering if things were going to progress to anything meaningful but in this story, things were different between them. They were much more aware of each other and I think that Sarah was also more open to possibilities, even when she felt a bit awkward. It was very cute. Even though there was an emphasis on relationships in this book, a large chunk of it was focused on the mystery behind the very public death that surprised everyone. There was plenty of sleuthing to be had and the mystery was quite a whodunit. Overall, Claw Enforcement was a great cozy mystery that held a good pace and was as interesting as it was entertaining. This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Berkley Prime Crime. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.

Another light, enjoyable mystery in the Second Chance Cat series. A lot of the interpersonal tension is gone, as Sarah willingly joins the senior citizen sleuths in their latest case. Elvis the cat's role is rather muted this time, too. As usual, the characters and their interplay are the best part.Smoothly written and pleasant.
