I liked having several novellas in one book. The stories were great!

This is a collection of four suspense novellas, with three of the four stories previously published as e-books. If you have read the Blue Justice Series, then you will definitely want to get this book as Derek St. John gets his story told. All the stories take place in Tanner Hollow, North Carolina, and some of the characters appear in more than one story.Lethal Homecoming tells the story of Kallie Ainsworth. She left home years ago due to an abusive step-father. She is now returning to town for his funeral, but on the way an attempt is made on her life. Her old boyfriend, Nolan Tanner, is now a deputy sheriff. As he tries to find out who tried to kill her, his feelings for her rise to the surface again. Does Kallie still have feelings for him?Lethal Conspiracy has Jason Tanner, Nolan’s brother, rescuing Lily Maloney from a running car inside a closed garage. She is adamant that she didn’t try to kill herself, and that she witnessed a murder and that is why someone is out to kill her. Jason believes her and they work together to try to solve the mystery and keep Lily alive.Lethal Secrets puts Honor McBride on the road, traveling with her five children to escape some men who are after her for the money her now deceased husband borrowed. They will take her children in lieu of cash. Honor arrives in Tanner Hollow to take possession of a house left to her by her aunt who is also deceased recently. As they arrive in town, Honor’s old clunker of a car gets a flat tire and bank owner and interim minister, Eli Murphy, helps her out. He discovers the tire has a bullet in it. It seems trouble may have followed Honor to Tanner Hollow, but Eli will try his best to keep her safe and ferret out the troublemakers.Lethal Agenda gives Derek St. John (from the Blue Justice series) his own story. He is in Tanner Hollow on vacation when he hears a 911 call from Claire Montgomery. He arrives on the scene and scares off the assailant who had attacked Claire in her home. His interest is piqued and he and Claire work with the authorities to try to discover who has a grudge against Claire that is big enough to kill her over it.All the stories have tension, action, suspense and romance. Thrills abound as each story moves at a quick pace. I would have liked to have seen Derek St. John have his own full-length novel and more faith evident, but the novellas were still worth reading and enjoying.

Eason does not waste any time getting to the action. Protecting Tanner Hollow is full throttle in the first chapter. As I read on I discovered why. Protecting Tanner Hollow is a collection of four romantic suspense novellas, so it is necessary to get into the action from the get go in each of the stories. Fans of novellas are going to love this collection. The setting and a few recurring characters link the novellas, each containing a damsel in distress being rescued, very different than the author's Elite Guardians series' female characters, but still delightful. One of Eason's St. John family characters is featured in the last of these stories. Fans of Eason's full-length novels may find the novellas a little light due to the length constraints, but will still find them an enjoyable read. I am grateful to have received a copy of Protecting Tanner Hollow from Revell Publishers via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation.

With this book being my first foray into Christian suspense fiction, I was pleasantly surprised by this collection of novellas that built on each other. I found the stories engaging with the right amount of intrigue to keep me flipping through the pages. I appreciated that the characters overlapped between stories and would check out further similarly themed sets of novellas again, especially by Eason.

I have had Protecting Tanner Hollow on my TBR shelf for a while now. I scratched out a little just because reading time and pulled it down. It was the perfect choice for a quick and entertaining reading experience. If you like romantic suspense and the novella form, this book is for you. Each of the four novellas in Protecting Tanner Hollow take place in the small North Carolina town of the same name. Many of the same characters overlap in each story, such as Sheriff Nolan Tanner, but the plot lines are distinct. Eason also includes characters from her Blue Justice series! In true novella format, there’s not a lot of character development and the romances are quick to take off. But the twisting, turning suspense keeps the pages turning and the reader guessing. Themes such as greed, betrayal, and jealousy run throughout. Each installment is less than 100 pages — great for when you want to complete a book, but have only a little time. I read one story a day, and found that to be just right for me.Full of fast-paced action and romantic sparks, Protecting Tanner Hollow is a fun read!Recommended.Audience: adults.

Thank you to Revell for sending this copy to review. A positive review was not required and all words are my own.

“Protecting Tanner Hollow” is a four part romantic suspense novellas with the town of Tanner Hollow as the setting. Each novella is connected by reoccurring characters, mainly Deputy/Sheriff Nolan Tanner and his firefighter brother Jason.

“Lethal Homecoming” – This introduces Nolan Tanner to the reader when his former girlfriend Kallie Ainsworth returns following the death of her abusive step-father. Nolan is there to stop an attempt in her life. All of his old feelings come back as he tries to investigate who would want to kill her.

“Lethal Conspiracy” – Introduces Jason Tanner who saves the life of Lillian Maloney who is first believed to have tried to commit suicide. But, as he soon learns, someone is trying to kill her despite covering up another murder.

This novella also introduces Crime Scene Technician Claire Montgomery, another character who will be featured in the fourth (4th) novella (“Lethal Agenda”).

“Lethal Secrets” – The third novella involves Nolan’s cousin, Eli Murphy who stops to change the tire on a station wagon belonging to single mom of five (5) kids, Honor McBride. Honor is running to save her life and the lives of her kids. Eli, despite swearing off women, helps Honor rebuild her life while keeping her safe.

“Lethal Agenda” – The conclusion of the Tanner Hollow saga involves Claire Montgomery, introduced in “Lethal Conspiracy”. From the outset, Claire is almost killed by someone who took her work personally. The attack is thwarted thanks to the quick work of Detective Derek St. John who already had a previous run-in with her.

This set of novellas draws you in from the first chapter of each one and takes the reader on a fast-paced read. How fast? Each one is roughly 85-100 pages; enough to tell a quick and concise story without overwhelming the reader or overly complicated plots. They’re easy, half-day reads or a day read for the entire book.

Eason knows how to get the reader hooked and keep them hooked until the end of the story which can wrap up faster than expected.

While sold under Revell’s label which is primarily Christian Reads, Eason doesn’t preach or “brow-beat” religious tones in either of the stories. Some readers might appreciate the light Christian themes; others might find it lacks.

I thoroughly enjoyed the novellas, which is a surprise because I don’t usually read them (and I don’t know why I don’t; probably don’t know enough about them or find interesting ones to read). I honestly couldn’t rate which “Tanner Hollow” story was my favorite due to the fact they were short and I enjoyed each one. The “theme” of each story was different, yet well connected.

I’d love to re-visit Tanner Hollow again to see how everyone is doing, and this format would be perfect. Concise and exciting. Perhaps a “Return to Tanner Hollow”, with another four (4) novellas might be a future idea for the author.

Recommended for those who like short, concise stories in a series with a “clean read” tone to them.

Protecting Tanner Hollow is a compilation of four previously published short stories by Lynette Eason. I love Lynette's books and have read most of them. Each book she writes has a perfect blend of suspense, romance, danger, and Christianity. Protecting Tanner Hollow is no exception. Her plot lines are exciting and flow easily. The characters are likable and the descriptions are top notch. Each story is between ten and sixteen chapters and can be read in an hour. All four are set in the town of Tanner Hollow where you will meet old characters and new in the subsequent stories. Lethal Homecoming centers around Kallie Ainsworth, who returns home after many years and unknowingly brings danger with her. Lethal Conspiracy follows Jason Tanner as he falls for a helpless woman who almost dies in her car. In Lethal Secrets, Honor McBride is fleeing with her five children from someone to whom her dead husband owed money. And finally, Lethal Agenda sees Claire Montgomery dodge death again and again until her pursuer is caught and stopped.I enjoyed reading Protecting Tanner Hollow. They are excellent stories that captured my attention from the first page. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is the outcomes are predictable. But overall, you should read this book if you are a Eason fan or like Christian suspense.

I really enjoyed reading this set of books. Each one was easy to read and by having four it kept the story going and allowed me to read at my own pace. The stories take place in Tanner Hollow and several of the characters are in more than one story. This was nice in that it let you keep up with the characters and see what happened next. Each story was one that kept you guessing on how each one would turn out. They really made you want to finish each one in one reading. I received this book from the publisher, the review is entirely my own.

Protecting Tanner Hollow by Lynette Eason is four romantic suspense novellas in one book. All four stories take place in the small town of Tanner Hollow, North Carolina. In Lethal Homecoming Kallie Ainsworth returns home for her stepfather’s funeral only to be met attempts on her life by an unknown assailant. Nolan Tanner the boy she left behind still has feelings for her. Can he protect her and solve the mystery behind who wants her dead before he loses her again, this time for good? In Lethal Conspiracy Lillian Maloney sees her fathers campaign manager murder a woman. Now Lillian must run and hide or she will be next. Firefighter Jason Tanner rescues her from a house fire but can he rescue her from the man who wants her dead? In Lethal Secrets Honor McBride rolls into Tanner Hollow with trouble following. Eli Murphy comes to her aid and helps her change a flat tire. Can he help stop the person who wants Honor dead or will he become a victim? And finally, in Lethal Agenda Detective Derek St. John helps rescue Claire Montgomery from a masked mad-man. The question is why is he after Claire? Will Derek become a target because of his association with Claire? All four are short stories but they don’t feel rushed like most short stories do. MS. Eason gives you plenty of romance and danger. When you pick up this book make sure you have plenty of time to finish it! I loved Tanner Hollow and didn’t want to leave.I received this book from the publisher for my honest review.

I enjoyed this book very much. I have read the Blue Justice series with the St John family so it was great that the last novella was a story about another St. John. These stories were fast moving and one led to the next with some common characters in each. I would recommend this book and this author.

f you enjoy a book with non-stop action, full of suspense, and mystery, you’re in for a treat with four riveting stories. What ties them together is the location Tanner Hollow, and a few characters that appear in each story, even if just a brief part. When I finished reading, one I quickly got immersed in the next, and the book was finished before I knew it.For me I loved all of the stories, but the last one reunited me with the St. John family, and wow, I wasn’t expecting it, but it made me happy!I received this book through the Revell Reads Program, and was not required to give a positive review.

Great collection of short stories introducing new characters. Add the extra surprise of a St. John and the book was perfect. Finally, get Derek's story. The new characters and chemistry is great. The only one lacking is the final story of Derek and Claire. After the pace of the other stories, it felt rushed. All in all, I am in love with Tanner Hollow and looking forward to the introduction of more characters and more of the town itself.

Protecting Tanner Hollow is a collection of four romantic suspense novellas set in Tanner Hollow. All four novellas kept me in suspense but the last one was my favorite because it was a crossover from the Blue Justice series featuring the St. John family. Finally Derick St. John gets his story. In this novella we also get caught up in the last chapter of what is happening in the St. John family. I highly recommend reading this book.

Lynette Eason has truly hit her stride as a romantic suspense author in recent years. Having finished her “Blue Justice” series featuring the St. John siblings, she now gives us “Protecting Tanner Hollow”, a series of four suspense novellas centered around the same small town.Usually, I find novella collections to be a mixed bag, with some stronger than others, but these four are surprisingly all absorbing and of similar high quality. And I was particularly pleased with the final one, “Lethal Agenda”, since it features Derek St. John, the only St. John not to get a novel of his own in “Blue Justice”.Due to the short format, these stories are not as fleshed out as Eason’s novels are, but each packs quite a punch. I highly recommend this collection.I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book by Lynette Eason. The four novellas had good characters and good plots. The four stories had characters that were connected but not necessarily from the same family which worked well. Tanner Hollow and its inhabitants have a wholesomeness about them that is very refreshing.

Lynette Eason does clean romantic suspense well. I didn't realize she'd previously released three of the novellas before (obviously I hadn't read them). I'd heard that Derek St. John (of the family in the Blue Justice series)'s story was to be included in this book, but I'd forgotten that until he showed up in the fourth novella.Based on the first two novellas, I thought we'd be reading stories of police and firefighters from Tanner Hollow, but that only held true for the first two of the novellas. In the other two, the main characters are not necessarily in those professions, though they are in need of protection.WARNING: SPOILERS MAY BE INCLUDED IN REVIEW. READ ON AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION:*****Lethal Homecoming was in my top 2 of the 4 novellas included in this book. It details how Nolan Tanner, a police officer, and Kallie end up together. Lethal Conspiracy ranks as my third favorite of the 4 novellas and details how Nolan's brother, Jason, a firefighter, meets and courts Lilly.Lethal Secrets was probably my least favorite of the novellas, though it is still good. The main characters are a banker who's an interim pastor and a widowed mother of 5 moving to Tanner Hollow to avoid bad people.Lethal Agenda was in my top 2 of the 4 novellas included but mostly because it was the story that featured Derek St. John, whose family features heavily in Eason's Blue Justice series. Though I was glad to see Derek become less of a loner and open up to someone.Note: I received a copy of this book through LibraryThing's Early Reviewer's Group in exchange for an honest review.
