About this audiobook

A captivating story about finding your soulmates in a world fought with unseen dangers, Variant Lost is an Amazon Top 100 bestseller!

One ordinary woman. Four extraordinary men. A power that could ruin them all.

Driven by a promise to keep her identity secret, tenacious Evelyn Maynard is all alone in the world. But a scholarship to the exclusive Bradford Hills Institute offers her a safe haven and a fresh start. Or so she thought. Eve is one of the only humans at her new school, brimming with those born with Variant DNA - and coveted superhuman abilities.

Bound by shared tragedy, Ethan, Josh, Tyler and Alec - and their unique powers - are revered amongst Variants. But something has always been missing and she may have just arrived with a scholarship and a glint in her enchanting, curious eyes.

Together, they could be unimaginably powerful, but being bonded by the Light itself isn’t always a blessing, and Eve’s dangerous past could curse them all.

Because she’s not the only one keeping secrets…

Can they learn to trust each other in time to save themselves from an insidious danger no one saw coming?

Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No

The back story... The h starts out on the run to a new home because her mom finds out that a boy likes her and they cannot have any relationships. During the flight from Australia to the US, the plane crashes and she and the co-pilot are the only survivor. She gets a prestigious invite to a top tier school and the story truly begins.

Romance or Gist: Essentially angsty teen lust - mostly thoughts

The drama explosion... The H-Alec flips out and the h takes flight and runs away.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Weird
    Was it OTT? Very
    Separation involved? Tiny
Was it resolved properly or rushed? To be continued.

Final Notes... The h was the mental equivalent of a 13 year old spoiled child who threw tantrums any time things didn't go her way or she didn't get the whole story. She would get upset at others for doing the very same thing that she was doing. I had to skip through many of her rants to keep my sanity.

Based of the first paragraph and my overall rating, you would think that I hated the story but I actually like its premise. I wish that the h wasn't such a spoiled, self-righteous head-case along with Alec, the perpetual brooder. The other three guys and her roommates were all great. I am on the fence with the next story as it is 15 hours and I am worried that it will be 11 hours of angsty head babble and 4 hours of story... What to do!

HEA or HFN? To be continued

The main characters last name is Maynard, my last name is Maynard, why wouldn't I read this series?I had pretty high expectations going in due to the shared last name and VARIANT LOST did not disappoint. I found Eve to be a bit naive and juvenile at times, but she was also persistent and loyal. I had no trouble liking her even through her faults. All of the guys in VARIANT LOST intrigued me. Alec was extremely frustrating, but the more you learn about him the more he grows on you. I really enjoyed all the different gifts that were represented as well as learning about how each gift works. There was plenty of action in book 1 of the Evelyn Maynard series and I never found myself bored. The romance is a bit slow, but not too slow that it's frustrating. The world was interesting and kept me guessing. I had book two on my wishlist before I even finished the book and had it read within 24 hours of release. Now I have to wait for book three.
