About this audiobook

Talented golfer Morgan Spencer has never won a major but it's so close she can taste it-no thanks to her sexist father, a golfing legend who won't even give her the time of day.

Television producer Adrienne Wyatt has thrown herself into her career after her lover left her a year ago. She has a brilliant new plan: a documentary featuring Morgan's rise and rise, capitalizing on the young woman's star appeal.

The main problem is that the reserved golfer treats Adrienne's plan like an invasion of privacy. The other issue is her growing feelings for the irritatingly attractive woman-an unprofessional lapse that would get her ridiculed by her peers if anyone found out.

When things come to a chaotic head, as fierce desires, risked careers, age differences, and dreams all come into play, what will win?

Contains mature themes.

Author

A.L. Brooks

A.L. Brooks currently resides in London, although over the years she has lived in places as far afield as Aberdeen and Australia. She works 9-5 in corporate financial systems and spends many a lunchtime in the gym attempting to achieve some semblance of those firm abs she likes to write about so much. And then promptly negates all that with a couple of glasses of red wine and half a slab of dark chocolate in the evenings. When not writing she likes doing a bit of Latin dancing, cooking, travelling both at home and abroad, reading lots of other writers’ les-fic, and listening to mellow jazz.

This was a wonderfully unexpected surprise. I have never read or listened to anything by this author before. Decided to get this after seeing it recommended on lesfic facebook groups. So glad I did! It's a sweet and heartfelt age gap love story set in the world of Women's Pro Golf. I loved everything about it. The slow burn romance between the MCs. The difficult father/daughter relationship and how it affects the one MC. The physical and social insecurities experienced by an older woman as she becomes involved with a much younger woman. And then there are also other forces which conspire to put obstacles in the way of our heroines. All in all very satisfying, with great narration by Melissa Moran. Oh, and the love scenes: tender and hot all at once. What's not to like!

I’m not much of a golf fan, so hesitated briefly. So glad I jumped in. This novel features the expected AL Brooks’ complex, yet endearing, protagonists. Plus an intriguing plot which deftly deals with overcoming past heartbreaks and the ever-present risk of mature lesbians still slogging through family and career prejudices against gays still lurking in 2021. A wonderful romance with plenty of realistic relationship sand traps and evil ex’s.

Even though I am in no way a fan of golf, I thoroughly enjoyed this A.L. Brooks slow burn romance so don't worry if you know nothing about the game.

I thought it was quite weird focusing on golf as not many people are into golf. Quite enlightening... It has some material of romance into different ages (young and old women), some hint of misogyny and mental health. Quite interesting how the story develops. You can predict the end, but doesn’t make it bad.
