About this audiobook

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods . . . or monsters. I still can't decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there's Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn't felt anything for a hundred years. But there's something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what's broken in me.

Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I'm wondering if I was brought here intentionally-as the bait.

This was easily the worst book I have ever read/listened to. My guilty pleasure are definitely vampire romance tropes. This book pulled me out of the magical realism with almost every sentence. The whole book takes place over a couple days, for some reason it makes sense for some random dude to threaten her and seconds later she’s “cupping his cheek”. That’s their first encounter. I really wanted to like the book, because I love boarding school and vampires etc. the writing his horrific, supernatural stuff aside, the emotions, portrayal etc is completely unrealistic. This has to be self published or something. I can’t believe there are more books in the series. I got to chapter 61 and I just couldn’t get through the rest of it.

Good story but the dialogue will have you cringing so bad it hurts and will feel silly listening to it but it's a good enough story to with stand the torture but maybe not enough for some

I loved it overall. The story and atmosphere was great!! My only really issue was how childish some of their conversations were. Like asking someone their favorite ice cream... I guess being older Jade's me a bit... But I usually like convos with depth... I loved everything else about the book though and can't wait for book 2. Def recommend from me.

HAHAHAHAHA. Ok, now that that is out of my system. If you like cheesy, YA, vampire romances, prepare to be entertained. Think Twilight and Vampire Academy, that makes fun of the genre (and itself) as you go. It knows it's cheesy and ridiculous. We all know it. And I DON'T MIND. I was listening to the audio, and ended up buying the ebook so I could keep reading. This had me cracking up, multiple times. I stopped to dramatically read my husband some lines. It was so bad that it flipped back over into good, and I'm there for it. The only reason I didn't love it enough to 5 star it was I think the end tried a little too hard. I wasn't even shocked by the reveal - I thought it moments before we were told, and I felt like it was so out there IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SURPRISING, but at that point it was like, oh one more coincidence. Thinking back to those other books I mentioned, they had shockingly cleaner plot arcs that didn't leave me annoyed. I will still definitely read the next one, but I'm waiting on my library hold ;)

That was the most heart wrenching, captivating book I’ve read in a really long time. I was so invested in Grace and Jaxons relationship, I finished this book in three days within getting it. 100 percent recommend if you are looking for something to keep you up at night wondering what is going to happen next. The twists and turns gave me whiplash, and I teared up multiple times. If I could give it ten stars I would.

I’ll have to come back to update- the characters seem engaging enough and the plot is interesting-however the author keeps using “AF” instead of just using the words- oddities like this are annoying and pull me away from the story and seem like she’s just using them for her rating rather than allowing her story to develop with normal language- I hate acronyms in books

Major plot twist ending. Push through first half. Worth it!

Oh, it's a ten word minimum review. Haha.

The first half of the book is a slow buildup and if I didn't read spoilers, I might have gave up on it.

For a little bit, it does give off Twilight vibes mixed with a Legacies type setting. She also makes references to both.

I could do without her overly used "af" as a description.

I also like how she brings in other supernatural beings than the typical witch, werewolf, vampire.

It's not completely horrible, but it's not completely fantastic either.

Story is ok AF. With that being said, the authors use of “AF” constantly was super annoying. I liked most of the characters and the school seemed cool. Both audio narrators are awful. Somehow I made it through the female voice and then had to listen to an even worse male narrator. IF I continue this series I will have to switch away from the audiobooks.

I wanted to love this but the narrator was really hard to listen to, she made the guys have high pitched voices and even for the female voice it felt screechy.
The main female character is completely obsessed with the main guy from the very beginning. It was too easy for him.

Painfully cringe. This reads like a wattpad fanfic. Tries way too hard to cater to gen-z and grossly misuses the word "AF". I feel bad for the brain cells that died whilst wasting time on the chapters I did manage to get through.

Definitely not bothering with the other books In this series. It’s so cringy. Everything happened in a few days. The main character is a bit annoying as well. Guess I’m not a fan of YA romance

I wasn’t sure about starting a YA book, but I do like supernatural stories. There was a lot of young content and wording, but the storyline is good. It took me 3/4 of the book to fully invest. The ending had a twist I did not see coming at all. On to the next book, cause now I need to know

It was a good story but the writing was kind of cringy. It’s funny how the main character keeps bringing up Twilight and Legacies just to reassure the reader that this book is not like those stories. The second book so far is a little better.

this is so bad, and proves that you can get away with plagiarism with an international success.
It's plotless, the writing is childish, Grace is the most naive person ever, Jaxon is too Edward Cullen.

So far extremely disappointed. I was told to read this book because I was told it was an adult version of Twilight. I guess it kind of is in the fact that it's like Twilight but not adult they haven't even had sex yet. So unless I'm missing something I don't get it I read books for the erotic stuff. Having a good story is nice as well but a book without sex is kind of a waste of my time.

So far I'm on chapter 17 and I'm not even sure i want to continue. I stopped to read reviews to try to see if this is worth trying to push through, that maybe it's going to get better, but I'm not convinced. The writing is bad. Really bad. I can't believe there are four more books after this. Will edit my review if i manage to finish, but that's unlikely. Ever spend a lot of time doing something, and then regretted it because it was a colossal waste and you think of all the other things you could have been doing in the meantime? That's this book.

I really enjoyed this story, I love reading about schools for paranormal students. I like Grace, she is your typical teenager brought to a place she knows nothing about after a great loss. She is kind, loving, and quirky, and tells some pretty bad jokes. Jaxson is your typical brooding, good looking vampire. He is tortured, protective, and super powerful. At first I don’t know how to feel about certain people we meet some that gives the feeling you can’t trust them right away but most of them seem okay. I really like Macy, she is perky and sweet. I like Flint for most of the book. It is a little slow here and there but super action packed the last few chapters.

I like this series, but had to give it 4 stars because I do not like of finding out after many chapters in that the male narrator is only the last chapter of the book. Especially considering I started the book because of the male narrator.

The book was a fun guilty pleasure and I very much enjoyed it. There are problems with the audio file that are annoying - it skips chunks of the book in several places so you may be better off getting a hard copy.

This actually only gets three stars because u felt like the narrator was beautiful at reading. Otherwise… this was pretty terrible, but if you make it half way in, you’ll be addicted regardless and not even know why, so that’s the second star. The first is because it’s a finished book and everyone gets a star for that one. (Well, almost everyone.)
