About this audiobook

I bought her at an auction.

My best friend’s sister.

How I wound up at the auction?

I’m only here to close a multimillion-dollar deal.

Until she walks out on stage.

I could tell she didn’t recognize me.

My best friend’s sister.

The friend that’s no longer alive.

She doesn’t know the truth about what happened to him.

Before I could stop myself, I put in a bid.

I was the asshole who got to walk away with her on my arm.

That damn dress.

It left little to the imagination.

I told myself I wouldn’t touch her—shouldn’t touch her.

Not like this, not after bidding on her at some seedy underground auction.

But I wanted to make sure she was safe.

How could someone so gorgeous, classy, and smart be a virgin?

She said she couldn’t be bought.

But she was everything I never knew I wanted.

And now, she was mine.

All mine.

    4 stars …how are we to believe a steamy scene between H and h is realistic when both the H and h have the same low bass male voice? This audiobook desperately needed a female conarrator. Looks like a good story if it is in ebook format

    4 Stars for me!

    H = 7/10
    h = 7/10

    Narrator Rating(s)
    M = 6/10
    F = n/a
    If below 5/10,why? I definitely like this narrator but it may have been better to have a female voice this story due to the number of female characters.

    Was cheating involved? No

    Angst Level? Light to moderate
    Light, Moderate, Heavy or Please Stop

    Scenes with heat... Yes

    Detailed Descriptive Sex - 6-7
    Um, Wow, Beyond Descriptive Sex - 8 or above

    Was there so much sex or unrealistic sex that you rolled your eyes and/or skipped forward? No

    The back story... The H has had a tough time financially, is behind on rent and just lost her job. Her good friend at work gave her a number to call where she can offer herself up for auction for a night of sex with the elite of the city. She is a 25 year old virgin which will increase the bid. The H, who is only at the club for a meeting, sees the h, realizes that he knows her and ends up getting her in the auction.

    The Romance... Starts out fast but then they get to know each other.

    The drama explosion... A bad guy is out to get the H.
    Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? A bit contrived
    Was it OTT? Of course but it worked.
    Separation involved? Slight
    Was it resolved properly or rushed? Properly

    Final Notes... This was a bit different than I anticipated but I did enjoy the story.

    Really not a fan of this narrator he just sounds sleazy. Gives me the ick when I hear him I usually can't get past the 1st chapter of his narration and had to grit my teeth and persevere to get through this one. I don't think I can do it again. Maybe, if he was sharing narration with someone really good, then I may be persuaded. Until then, it's a hard pass from me.
    The story was ok, I did find a little humour in it but I think it feels lacking in parts in my opinion, so could do with a little fleshing out so it feel less like the story has skipped ahead.

    (Joe & Sophia): Sophia is down on her luck. I mean really down. I mean so down that a scene from the beginning of "Pretty Woman" was visible in the story. It's kind of reminiscent of what's going on today with people and their finances, you get sick, can't work, no pay, no rent, no utilities, then she loses her job. Sucks but it happens. She signs up for an auction to earn some extra cash. Joe is working on a big business deal and he's meeting with the man he's making the deal with but he'll only meet with Joe at the auction. He sees Sophia and that she's got something extremely precious to auction off and he wants it. I actually really liked this book. I felt more of the desperation from Sophia but there also wasn't that whole "captain save a ho" mentality coming from Joe either. Even though there's a scene reminiscent of Pretty Woman, there's no swooping in to "save" Sophia. I also enjoyed the connection to J.D.'s MC series and how it's beginning to tie back into other books I've read. Though I've already read the MC books of hers, the light ? bulb definitely shined brighter once I finished this book. I'm sure some of her other billionaire books will tie in to them as well. Can't wait. I loved Joe and Sophia together. They compliment each other and their chemistry is???.

    I feel really bad giving such a low score. I’m not sure if it was the story or the narrators voice or both that brought the score down.

    After listening to this book I have decided I won’t be listening to any single narrations from DC Cole again. He might be better when having a female counterpart but him doing all the voices just didn’t work for me.
