About this audiobook

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

Grammy Award–nominated, platinum-selling musician Halsey is heralded as one of the most compelling voices of her generation. In I Would Leave Me If I Could, she reveals never-before-heard poetry of longing, love, and the nuances of bipolar disorder.

In this intimate audio performance of her debut collection, Halsey bares her soul. Bringing the same artistry found in her lyrics, Halsey’s poems delve into the highs and lows of doomed relationships, family ties, sexuality, and mental illness. More hand grenades than confessions, these autobiographical poems explore and dismantle conventional notions of what it means to be a feminist in search of power.

Masterful as it is raw, passionate, and profound, I Would Leave Me If I Could signals the arrival of an essential voice.

Not sure I would call it poetry... thoughts, musings of a famous person — yes! But there only a few that stuck out to me but hidden among so many items... was hoping for her to dig a bit deeper and tell the stories in full...

A bit dark for my tastes but she’s a good poet.

I loved this poetry collection by Halsey. I have been a fan of her music for a while and I was happy to see this side of her. The poems are varied and beautiful. I love metaphors and imagery. My only wish they had a stronger thematic link. The poems are obviously very personal for the author and that’s what connected them but I feel like I wanted a little bit more.
All in all, it’s a great debut poetry collection. I can see myself rereading it.

She adds a few words not present in the written version. Also, the audiobook skips one of the poems. But it was a great experience to read while listening to her at the same time

If you’re wanting something light and uplifting this isn’t for you. I knew what I was getting myself into, so it’s no problem for me. I really enjoy how raw and unfiltered she was in this book. Definitely recommend if you’re a Halsey fan.
