About this audiobook

Josie's romantic relationships seem to always follow the same storyline: The guy is initially interested in her quirky, literary sensibilities, but right when things start to get serious with a gentleman caller, Josie has to take the risk of disclosing her nerdiest secret: She's a Regency era reenactor, complete with the gowns, the country dancing, the teatime spectacle, and the Complete Works of Jane Austen lovingly displayed on her mantelpiece. Once they see her spare room — dedicated entirely to sewing dresses modeled after Austen's heroines — they inevitably stop texting back.

But when Josie befriends an awkward history professor who joins her reenactors' group to bolster his own research on the Napoleonic Wars, she starts to wonder why it is that Sam seems to be so natural at playing the part of the Regency gentleman. (It could just be his British accent.) Her suspicions only increase when Sam offers to use a "research grant" to bring a few friends on a trip to an historic estate in the English countryside. But Josie can't get over how friendly everyone who works at the estate seems to be with Sam, as if they've known him all his life.

What secret is he hiding from her? And why does he seem so unbothered by her own Austen-loving quirks? Is it possible that Josie's life-long fascination with Austen's stories of human frailty and affection have prepared her to fall in love with… an earl?

Surprisingly good! Also, there is description of neurodiversity and I appreciate the way that is explained and woven into the story. Two thumbs up and a must for those who love regency things.

Horrible. Don’t waste your time. I should have stopped it at the very beginning.

This was really sweet. Listening to them talking more and more comfortably was a delight and I couldn’t stop smiling.

Cute premise and I enjoyed the way we were
invited into the heroine's way of interpreting. A heroine on the spectrum is unusual and was very refreshing.
That said the book was more shallow than I expected. So much more could have been done with this. The story was unlikely, choppy and, regardless of the authors education level, seemed as though a period drama had been watched for research and left at that.
    A bit lame.

Such a sweet shorter story!! It pleasantly suprised me with the characters and the plot twists.

The story ended when it should have developed. The author gives a lot more detail about the man and relationship just before the one with the main male lead, makes no sense.

Miranda writes truly enjoyable stories. I just wish they were longer. Really well narrated with excellent quality audio ( clear with good volume).

I liked the plot and it was well written but there was just something missing. It had the makings of something amazing but moved so quickly and then was just over, I feel like it could have been something I would read again and again if only there was more to the story before the resolution and ending. Good but unsatisfying read.

An enjoyable story and I liked that the heroine and hero were socially awkward. However a large part of the plot centred around boyfriends finding Josie’s hobby too weird and I didn’t think her being a Jane Austen re-enactor was that big a deal. I also felt that the story took too long to set up so that there wasn’t much time for the relationship between Josie and Simon to develop and the ending felt abrupt. And the cover is an insult to the story - they’re not wearing Regency costumes but Victorian ones!

More dialogue. More depth. More historical accuracy. Maybe dual narration? The narrator did not successfully pull off the British Sam.

Joyful. The new old. Of course, the bearded
    Dragon. Delightful

A sweet romance that had an interesting twist. Since I'm always on the lookout for good romances that feature characters with disabilities, I was very excited to discover that the MC and LI both are on the autism spectrum. It was refreshing to read about characters who not only live their lives amongst the neurotypical but the unique challenges that come with being neurodivergent when it comes not only to life but love as well. The story was fairly engaging but the ending was a bit contrived, almost Hallmark-y but it was still good anyway.
