About this audiobook
You cant succeed without making a plan. Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a twelve-month execution cycle. The authors have found that annual goals and plans create unforeseen barriers to achieving the best results. This is too short. Instead, a 12 Week Year captures the energy of year-end, and avoids the pitfalls of low productivity annualized thinking. With the traditional annual execution cycle there is an illusion that there is a lot of time to accomplish the goals, especially early in the year. The 12 Week Year is a how-to book for both individuals and organizations seeking to improve their execution effectiveness. The authors have redefined a year to be 12 weeks long. The rationale for our 12-week execution cycle, is that traditional annualized thinking is highly unproductive and creates a lack of healthy urgency. In 12 weeks however, there just isnt enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound. This book explains how to leverage the power of a 12-week year to drive improved results in any area of your life.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is awesome. The views of author are crystal clear. No fluff. I am implementing this right now.
The author doesn't try to sell you anything. It's just pure help.2 people found this helpful
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I was expecting this audiobook to be full of hustle-culture advice, but it actually gave very reasonable, helpful, concrete action steps for achieving goals. The advice given seems unlikely to lead to burn out if executed as described, which is a big win! As an entrepreneur and healthcare professional, I found the work-related advice (e.g., for managers, employees, and entrepreneurs) was spot-on. There were countless gems about work, teams, management, leadership, commitments, etc. and I can see how this approach could be extremely beneficial to small and large teams alike--including entrepreneurs. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the suggestions and the methodical descriptions of the various steps.
I have listened to various chapters more than once, and plan to listen again throughout my first 12-week goal period and again after that. I would like to try another 12-week period following the steps more closely, as I think I would see even greater success. Based on my experience (and the author's), following the steps in a "half-assed" way does have some benefits, but it genuinely seems following the method as described in the book = exponentially better results.
The narrator's voice is soothing and makes you look forward to listening! I've listened to great books that bore me to death because the narrator sounded like a robot. This one, to my ear, does not.
The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5: My main complaint--interestingly--is as a healthcare professional: This book is full of diet culture and offers countless misguided, unsustainable, toxic examples of how to lose weight. This was *so* distracting from the overall message of the book. If someone were to consistently follow through the author's suggested methods for losing weight, they would probably develop an eating disorder. Thus, if you have an eating disorder, are in recovery from one, or have a disordered relationship with food or your body, I would absolutely not recommend this book--it may be detrimental to your health and longevity. If you do decide to read this book, keep in mind that the authors are not Registered Dietitians and their weight loss and "fitness" advice is misguided, unhealthy, and unsustainable.
To the authors: If you make a second iteration of this book, focusing on your area of expertise instead of diving into health and fitness advice would make it even stronger.1 person found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book with helpful tips and motivation on time management and project planning for personal and professional goals. It helped me to improve my system and highly motivated me to keep going. I don’t understand all those whining people here. Get your a* up and instead of blaming a book, blame your lacking actions and get going.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing content! This book came exactly when I needed the most. I’ve lost my motivation in the same time with my job and with the dozens of emails of rejection from my job’s application. This book gave me a great structure of planning and a great portion of motivation. I highly recommend this book when you’re feeling stuck without motivation, like me. A pleasant voice as well in the audiobook. A pleasure to listen to.
Many thanks to the authors! - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Interesting and well-written. It had a lot of insights into the art of productivity.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The book seemed to drag on instead of getting to the point.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5One of the best books I've ever read! Totally worth it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amazing book! Love the concept of the 12 week year. I’m going to give it a shot. I liked how it was an easy read and nothing was complicated. They provide you with good examples of each topic. Overall a great book that provides you with information to obtain a 12 week year. It’s not like those other hyped up self help book that give you crappy information. This is a keeper!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excelente libro. Da grandes ideas de optimización y acción. Muestra la desventaja de la visión anual (metas alejadas) vs Metas de 12 semanas (metas cercanas para realizarlas de una vez y eliminar el ruido)

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book has taught me discipline and how to create a vision. At first I was listening to the book to learn how to achieve but in reality it taught me the in and out of goal setting, vision, self discipline, self confidence, and motivation.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great read, I totally recommend. I will listen to it one more time
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It's a rather meaty book. But has a lot of value, I can't wait to put this into action.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A good book on effective execution as most people remain stuck or unable to attain their goals due to poor execution or no execution at all. I found the book extremely repetitive but continued to read the book in a quest to find that ‘Aha’ moment but I did not; largely due to the fact that I had read the 5AM Club by Robin Sharma and he addresses these concepts in detail.
However, I do like the 12 week year concept because it pushes one to execute action plans and close out goals towards the bigger goal or vision within 90 days. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I truly enjoyed reading this book full of practical wisdom. I actually ordered my own copy as it occurred to me as a book that needs to be studied in depth. Grateful for taking the time to listen to it at the beginning of 2023. Looking forward to a quantum leap! Highly recommend it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So excited about implementing the 12 week year! I belong to a group who plans using this method. It was great to hear all the info from another angle.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow! Need to get started NOW! Execution has always been the key!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Che dire! È un libro che spacca gli schemi, rompe credenze limitanti e cosa ancora più importante è pratico. Se sei intenzionato a trasformare il modo di agire e di ottenere risultati questo libro è un must.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I found quite a few interesting ideas in this book but I really had to concentrate as the narrator has a very bland voice and doesnt seem interested in what he is reading.... This meant if I was doing something (which I usually am when audiobooking) i might miss something and have to go back to relisten.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Interesting book. Good step-by-step planning. Sometimes a bit too motivational, but overall really good
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Generic piece. Nothing less, nothing more. No quackeries but no surprises
