About this audiobook

Who’s the mystery woman who just walked into my brewery?

I’m not the only one from my Alaskan small town asking themselves that question. But I’m positive, I’m the only one in Sunrise Bay undressing the pretty blonde in my head. Everything about her, from her make-up to her high heels says she’s a fish out of water.

Whispers and speculations run rampant until the secret of who she is gets uncovered. Then the rumor mill goes into overdrive when she announces she’s staying to open a bookstore in the building next to mine—throwing a big wrench into my plans to buy that empty building.

I quickly find myself in a tug-of-war since my business partner/brother is upset she’s ruined the opportunity to expand our business. I try to keep my distance, but I’ve got one sister with a gossip column on the local radio station and two meddling grandmas setting me up as a tour director.

And now I kind of like the idea of our new neighbor staying. But small-town life isn’t for the weak—time will tell if she has what it takes to be one of us.

Decent start to the Green Family series and their are several tie-ins to the Baileys. The romance between the MCs was not as natural as in the Baileys but I did enjoy the story and and will continue with the series.

Cade and Presley have a forced proximity romance in this small town and Presley is a big-city girl coming to an overbearing town with no boundaries. The Greene family definitely have no boundaries.

I enjoyed how Presley came into the story and how her ties started to form. It was interesting to see how the other characters would react to Presley coming in and causing a ruckus. Cade was a bit problematic with the number of issues he was causing. He kept repeating the same mistakes with Presley and causing upset for unnecessary reasons. He isn't my favourite hero by Piper. I would have preferred him to have more of a personality than the difficult neighbour.

It gave the classic small-town vibes and the side characters brought a lot of humour to the story. The family were shoving their nose in where it wasn't needed and wanting all the gossip.

Did this audiobook keep cutting out for anyone else? I thought it was my headphones but it wasn’t. There are large, random silent spaces throughout which was frustrating. Good story though

I love these authors. They have made me a fan from the get-go. I couldn't wait for the Greene family to be introduced. I always love Ethel and Dori. The senior home game night was hilarious. This definitely had some funny moments. I didn't feel enough of a connection with the leads, however. I wish there had been more of a build between the two sisters. That is a huge gap that was, to me, vitally central to the story. There should have been more background, period. I always like to absorb the emotions and moods of the characters through detailed memories...maybe bits of flashback. There would have been more connection if they took us back to Cade as a boy when he lost his mom or maybe his memories of her when she was alive. Personally, it would have made me more sensitive to the story if I could visualize the vulnerable boy that still lingers in the shadows of the man. I felt like they didn't quite absorb into these characters as much as the Bailey's. With that family, I instantly felt a bond with all of them and couldn't wait to see what each one had in store. Only time will tell, but this first story left me a little empty. I hate saying that because I absolutely love Piper Rayne books. I couldn't wait to read this one. Unfortunately, I felt like this was breezed over too much leaving the end much to be desired. Hopefully with the next one I will be able to rebound.
