About this audiobook

When off-duty deputy Cooper Robinson happens upon a car balanced on the edge of a cliff, he does everything he can think of to distract the distraught driver from her perilous situation—and the attraction is instantaneous. The problem? She’s his brother’s new girlfriend.

When Katelyn Loveland’s car veered off a winding Appalachian Mountain road, she thought she was done for. That is until Cooper Robinson, local sheriff’s deputy, came to her rescue. And though Katie narrowly escaped her brush with death, she still fell. Hard.

She wasn’t the only one. But soon Cooper learns that the woman he’s more attracted to than any he’s ever met is his brother’s new girlfriend—and therefore unquestionably off limits. Yet, despite their best efforts, Cooper and Katie can’t seem to avoid running into each other. Or ignore the undeniable chemistry between them.

As they grow closer, Katie shares secrets from her past and the real reason she moved to their small North Carolina town. She also wins over Cooper’s welcoming and bighearted family. But they don’t know that her feelings for Cooper keep growing—all while she’s dating his brother. Soon the stakes of their emotional connection become higher than either could have imagined.

Katie stands to lose the first family she’s ever had, and a scandal could doom Cooper’s campaign for sheriff. Suddenly they find themselves on the edge of another precipice—and they’re forced to make a decision that could change their lives forever.

Riverbend Gap by Denise Hunter is a 2021 Thomas Nelson publication. Katelyn is on her way to meet her boyfriend, Gavin's parents for the first time. But she winds up teetering off the edge of a cliff after swerving off the road. A Sheriff’s deputy, named Cooper comes to her rescue, talking her through some intense moments while they wait for help to arrive. Cooper feels an instant connection with Kate but is taken completely by surprise when he discovers she’s his brother’s new girlfriend! Kate has moved to Riverbend Gap for more personal reasons that she lets on and has many emotional issues to work through. Gavin is also trying to put his life back together after a tragic loss, which keeps Kate from acknowledging her burgeoning feelings for Cooper. Cooper is something of a ladies’ man, but right now, though, he’s got an election campaign to run while shooting down a multitude of stumbling blocks that could derail his run for Sheriff. The last thing he needs is to create more scandal by getting involved with Kate…. If only his heart agreed with his head. This is, to my knowledge, the first book I have read by this author. I took the plunge with this one because it was the first book in a new series, and I wouldn’t have to play catch-up. While this is an emotional story, it is also a wonderful book about the strength of family, friendship and true love. Like Kate, I think I could come to love the Robinson family as much as she did. The story has some nice thought-provoking scenarios addressing different ways people react to rumors and possible scandals. The story also tackles the pain and ruin that comes from drug addiction, and the toll it takes on everyone involved. There is a love triangle- and that can be a tricky sell sometimes- but I thought the author did a great with it. As you may have gathered there is a lot going on in this story, and sometimes it gets a little messy. I love messy! I love seeing how people rise to the occasion, face their fears and own up to their shortcomings. I loved the message of healing and forgiveness, and the warm-hearted way the story concludes. Overall, I’m glad I finally got around to giving this author a try. I hope I can fit some of her older titles into my reading list and am definitely on board for the next book in this series.

In Riverbend Gap, Katelyn Loveland finds herself in a precarious situation when she swerves off the road to avoid hitting a deer only to find herself stuck on the edge of a cliff. Sheriff’s Deputy Cooper Robinson finds her and orchestrates her rescue, talking her down and getting to know her in the process. It’s only after the harrowing experience that Cooper learns that Katelyn is his brother’s new girlfriend. Katelyn and Cooper try to move forward as friends, both realizing that the connection and chemistry they share is unlike anything they’ve ever felt with anyone else. But Katelyn is Cooper’s brother’s girl, and Cooper would never hurt his brother by stealing his girl. Then Cooper’s campaign for Sheriff is threatened by scandal, and Katelyn is pulled into the middle of it costing Katelyn her most cherished relationships. Will Cooper be able to clear his name and find a way to be with the only woman he’s ever loved?I read this book in record time. I couldn’t put it down once I got into it. The story, the characters, and the emotions pulled me in. I loved Katelyn and Cooper and the great chemistry they shared. I appreciate a heart-felt and clean romance, and this was one I really connected with. Over, a great story that I would definitely go back and read again. *I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was quickly page-turning this book! What a start, and the book never let me go.Katelyn Loveland's life has not been easy, but she pulled herself up by her boot straps, and was there until the end for her brother, her only family left to her. This fictional book is set on the Appalachian Trail, and the book and town revolves around this beautiful mountain trail. We are offered a family, that loves one another, but of course it also has it flaws. We are kept on our toes with a run for political office, a bridge closing, a love triangle, family dynamics, and finding family. So much, and now I want more!I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

I've read several books by Denise Hunter and her books are usually about conflict in a family with happily ever after endings. They are more than just a fluffy romance story and her new book had a lot of tension that kept ramping up until near the end.Katelyn was driving to her new home in the Appalachian Mountains when a deer ran across the road. She overcorrected and ended up with her car partway over a deep ravine. There was no cell service and she knew that she'd never be able to survive if the car went into the ravine. Cooper, a local sheriff's deputy was out riding his motorcycle when he noticed the skid marks o the road and was surprised when he saw Katelyn in her car. He knew he needed help from the fire department so to keep her calm while they were waiting for help, they shared events from their lives. They was a spark between them and he wanted to get to know her better when she got settled. He was amazed when she showed up for dinner at his parents' home and that she was his brother's girlfriend. They keep denying their feelings for each other but it was very difficult as they got thrown together at family meals. When the family finds out about their feelings, they have to make decisions that could totally change their lives. The two main characters and the secondary characters were well written. I also enjoyed the descriptions and information about the Appalachian Trail that went through their town. This was a great book that wasn't just a romance but also a family story with a few tidbits of inspiration sprinkled in.If you are ready for a break from the deep books that you've been reading, this is the perfect book to pick up.Thanks to the publisher for sending me this book to read and review.

Riverbend Gap by Denise Hunter is the first book in A Riverbend Romance series. This is a contemporary story of searching for family and finding true love. I really enjoyed reading this story. It is very descriptive and well written. I enjoyed reading of Katelyn’s struggles with making the right decision with Cooper and his brother. I enjoyed the devotion she had to follow through on her brother’s wishes and the tenderness she had towards finding meeting her birth mother. I appreciated the clean campaign Cooper ran, despite the things that were said about him. This is a great story of asking for and granting forgiveness.I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my honest review.
