About this audiobook
Silas Riley, Earl of Inglewood, is known among his peers in Parliament as the man made of stone. As a wealthy peer, there are few he trusts with his friendship. He guards his heart and his honor with vigilance, and when an accident nearly takes his life, he’s faced with a situation which threatens his standing in society.
Growing up in the shadow of her older brother, Esther Fox’s acceptance in his circle has been indifferent at best. So, when she ends up in a compromising situation as she saves the life of her brother’s dearest friend, the Earl of Inglewood, she is forced to marry him to save her own reputation. Once again, she finds herself accepted only because of the situation and not because she is truly wanted.
Neither are prepared for a loss, which further complicates their new relationship. With such a difficult beginning, can they ever hope to understand one another, let alone find love?

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5So many ups and downs for Essie, she was on an emotional rollercoaster, funny things made me laugh out loud, and also sad times but it all worked out well with the honourable Lord Inglewood. Great listening.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/53 1/2 stars ? a little slow at times,but a good read nonetheless.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I've come to love Sally Britton books. This one starts a new series, and I couldn't be happier. The narrator does a great job also. Sometimes I felt Esther was a little overboard in the feelings about herself. Then I stopped to think about that more deeply and realized that I often feel exactly the way she was feeling. That has made me think about some of my own insecurities. Maybe they aren't as real as I perceive them to be either. This is one of my favorite types of stories and yet done in a different way. I loved it.
The narrator does an excellent job with the different accents needed in the story. She does both male and female characters well. Highly recommend! - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This book was a waste of time.
Basically just slut shaming the h for no reason at all! I stuck with it, hoping for great payoff at the end but it ended rather stupidly:(( - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love this book! It’s a great story and a well written book. It’s such an enjoyable read and a wonderful audiobook listen. The narrator does a beautiful job. Her voice is lovely to listen to and she paces the narrative perfectly. This is the first book in the Inglewood series and introduces the Silver Birch Society group of friends, Silas, Isaac, Jacob, Hope, and Grace. Esther, the younger sister of Isaac, saves Silas, Lord Inglewood from life-threatening situation, but this lands her in a compromising situation and ultimately the two must wed. They both struggle to adapt to their marriage and stumble finding their way. It’s a wonderful romance as they find love together, overcoming a troublemaking neighbour, the stresses of a loved one at war, gossip, well-meaning friends, and the misunderstandings that are natural when a relationship is rushed into. I so enjoyed Silas and Esther growing together. It’s a beautiful audiobook. I absolutely recommend it. This is a clean and sweet story with no harsh language.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it, clean, romantic and it made me cry welldone.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oh my goodness, what a rollercoaster of emotions this book has! The love story is sweet, but there is so much going on with the characters. I wished to be part of their lives. I swear I felt every emotion as they experienced their own pain and triumphs.
I listened to the audiobook and the combination of Sally Britton's writings and Marian Hussey's narration is pure perfection.
