As a young man he found Christ as his saviour and soon thereafter dedicated himself to the preaching of the Gospel. In 1915 he left England for the Congo to work in an uncharted part of the African Jungle. Over the next 45 years he would establish 2,000 churches, eight large hospitals and schools teaching 25,000 children. However, his impact reached far beyond the mission field through his many books and countless sermons published across the world. Br Burton was a true apostle and until his death in 1971 used every opportunity to preach the Gospel and to encourage all believers he came into contact with to love the Lord and to live lives of service and obedience. “Truly the signs of an apostle were accomplished among you with all perseverance, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds.” (2Corinthians 12:12).view less
