ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
I’d like to thank my intern Jill Miller for helping put together the case studies at the end of this book. I’d like to thank Aaron Giesler and Chris Lyon for reading the manuscript and giving me feedback. I’d like to thank Randy Southern, my editor, who makes writing books easier for me and made this book more readable for everyone. I’d also like to thank Garry Friesen, whose book Decision Making and the Will of God brought much clarity to my study of Scripture regarding this subject.

I prayed about my decision, and I asked everyone I knew for advice. But when it came time to make the choice, my major influence was my PE coach. Of all the people I knew at that time in my life, I respected him the least. While I was in his class, he called me every name in the book; he even insulted my mother a few times. This man couldn’t comprehend how a 15-year-old boy had grown up without the least bit of knowledge as to how to play football. So he responded the only way he knew how: He
