About this ebook

PLEASE READ THIS! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!

Okay, maybe that was a bit melodramatic, but I'm sorry, I'm feeling a bit melodramatic at the moment.

Here's the deal. My name is Brooklyn Pierce, I'm fifteen years old, and I am decisionally challenged. Seriously, I can't remember the last good decision I made. I can remember plenty of crappy ones though. Including that party I threw when my parents were out of town that accidentally burned down a model home. Yeah, not my finest moment, for sure.

But see, that's why I started a blog. To enlist readers to make my decisions for me. That's right. I gave up. Threw in the towel. I let someone else decide which book I read for English. And whether or not I accepted an invitation to join the debate team from that cute-in-a-dorky-sort-of-way guy who gave me the Heimlich maneuver in the cafeteria. (Note to self: chew the melon before swallowing it.) I even let them decide who I dated!

Well, it turns out there are some things in life you simply can't choose or have chosen for you—like who you fall in love with. And now everything's more screwed up than ever.

But don't take my word for it. Read the book and decide for yourself. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll scream in frustration. Or maybe that's just me. After all, it's my life.

My Life Undecided was such a fun and quick read that I was honestly sad when it was over! I simply cannot find the words to explain how witty and hilarious this book really is, but I promise to try.

Brooklyn, or Brooks for short, has trouble following close on her heels. She doesn't get in trouble intentionally. Or so she says. It's just that all the ideas she has that sound fantastic at the time end in, well, sirens and video cameras. What's a girl to do? Why poll the Internet of course! If you can't make a good decision yourself, why not let other people make it for you!

Brooklyn's voice was spot on for a high school aged girl, who is just trying to get by. She has all the normal issues that most girls her age do, including coming to terms with who to include in her life. What I loved about most about Brooklyn's character, truly, was that she was so honest with herself all the time. It's not like she didn't know when she'd messed up, or what the consequences would be, or even that her blog readers were right in certain situations. She is spunky, and stubborn, and just a huge ball of a lovable character. Every few pages the reader is treated to a new page in Brooklyn's blog, and I loved how much that let us get to know her. As the book progresses, she learns that life doesn't always work the way we want it to, but that's okay sometimes. Watching her grow into her own was fabulous.

The other characters that revolve around Brooklyn are also vivid and filled with personality. I especially was drawn in by the two guys who are in her life. There's Hunter, the hot and dreamily Southern guy who is the apple of Brooklyn's eye. He may or may not be the best choice, but he sure is delicious! Then there's Brian. I loved Brian, but I generally root for the underdog in most cases. He was the sweet, debate loving boy who clearly adores the girl he is hanging around but is stuck in the friend zone. Poor guy! The focus isn't heavily on the romance aspect, which I liked, but it's there. Never fear my romance loving friends. I fell in love with all these crazy characters, and I'm sure you will too.

I'll stop going on and on now, and just let you know that I really and truly adored My Life Undecided. There are laugh out loud funny moments in here that are too numerous to count. Jessica Brody has written a book that is sweet, funny, and just full of high school drama goodness. You won't find anything tough about finishing this book. It's a quick read that will leave you giggling at the end!

"My Life Undecided" had the potential to be a fun, entertaining read, and at times it was (especially at the start), but too frequently the plot lagged which slowed the story down and made it unsuitable for Lit Circles. Pity.

MY LIFE UNDECIDED starts on the day Brooklyn Pierce gets arrested. She’s not necessarily surprised, as she tends to get herself into bad situations, but she is determined to change her ways. She starts a blog and posts polls with questions ranging from which school activities to try out to which boy to date, then waits for random voters to decide her fate. Along with the new blog, she spends time completing community service hours (due to her arrest), which leads to a secondary storyline that really brings home the heart of the story.

Brooklyn is witty, smart, and fun, while also being flawed in her own spot-on teen girl way. She makes bad decisions and has spent too much time trying to be perfect for misguided reasons. You’ll stay engaged throughout, as you’ll know which decision you and the voters want her to make, but she keeps you guessing about what she’s going to do until the end. There is just enough blogging to keep the storyline moving, but not so much that it's like you're reading a website.

MY LIFE UNDECIDED is a fun, fast-paced read that feels like you’re watching a movie (and hopefully one day you will be)! This is contemporary YA at its best.

I absolutely loved this book and finished it within a day. It was such a cute and fun read that I couldn't put it down. When I first started reading, I completely forgot that it was about a girl who goes to blogging for all her decisions. I really loved the idea once I actually looked at the summary, and I couldn't put it down after that. I really loved Brian and Brooklyn's relationship. My favorite kind of relationship to read is when a couple doesn't realize or won't come to terms with the fact that they like each other, and that is what I got and it was so refreshing to read.

This was a cute, quick read. I was just coming off of a book that took me nearly 3 weeks to get through, and decided I was in the mood for some lite YA fiction. This had a fun premise, and was right about the length I was looking for. I found it to be well written, humorous if a tad predictable, and the main characters were so true to real teenage drama that it made me wince a couple of times. In the end, reading this book was a lot like having a conversation with a teenager... fun, but if you're not in high school anymore it's going to seem a tad superfluous.

Oh, Jessica Brody, you've done it again... I adored Brody's THE KARMA CLUB and have been anxiously awaiting MY LIFE UNDECIDED for months. After all, MLU combines a teen girl, cute boys, bad decisions, funny decisions, and a BLOG. Really, the blog alone (okay, and maybe the boys) would have done it for me, but Brody goes above and beyond, which is always a good thing in an author...At first, I worried that Brooklyn's age, 15, coupled with this particular plot would make the novel feel a bit too immature for my tastes, but I shouldn't have worried. While Brooklyn does, for the most part, act like a 15 year old, Brody's use of humor provided a healthy balance and served as a distraction. I never felt like the story was slowed... she was able to just be a confused 15 year old girl, even if the reader is a few years older. Additionally, I would feel comfortable handing this novel to a younger reader as well... Perhaps not any younger than Middle School, but there wasn't anything particularly scandalous.I love the whole concept of this novel. It may not be entirely realistic, but, as a real life blogger, I can say there are parts of this novel that ring true. I've never had an entire blog dedicated to my life decisions, but I can't tell you how many times I've utilized Twitter when making a decision... Should I buy this? Did anyone see this movie and like it? I'm bored... what should I do? Brooklyn takes this idea to a whole new level... and learns quite a few things in the process. The endeavor might have been slightly misguided, but many teens will empathize with Brooklyn. She's really screwed up this time around... And making the wrong decision is sometimes entirely too tempting. Having someone else make your decisions takes all the pressure off you. If it's a good decision, great! If it's a bad decision, hey... I didn't make it! At some point in your life, you'll realize that, ultimately, only you can make your decisions - it's just the way the world works - but it was an adventure to watch Brooklyn discover this for herself (and in a much more fun and exciting way than most of us do)!I can't wait to read Brody's next offering... I fully expect it'll make me laugh... and think.

Review originally published on my blog AWordsWorth.blogspot.comBrooklyn Pierce is a girl with a knack for getting into "interesting" scrapes. As a toddler, she got trapped in a mine shaft. As a fifteen year old, she ended up setting her mother's model home on fire. After getting by with just a warning (and a LOT of community service), Brooklyn begins to realize maybe her problem is her decision-making skills. Or lack thereof. In a moment of inspiration, she creates an anonymous blog where she will post the decisions or choices she encounters, and allow the public to make the decision for her. At first, things seem to be going okay - the public doesn't always chose what Brooklyn would have, but that's the point right: have someone else make (better) decisions for you? As the experiment continues however, Brooklyn starts to waver in her enthusiasm for the idea - especially as life gets trickier and trickier. As a character, Brooklyn was seriously annoying at first. I wanted to shake her and try to make her see things the way they really are instead of how she thinks they are. But she began to grow on me, as she started waking up a little and realizing that maybe life was a little different. I enjoyed watching her work through things, and while it took a little longer than I'd have preferred - that also lends a sense of authenticity to the story. I mean really: how many of us actually learn the first time? I cringe to remember the lessons I've relearned through the years. And I love the supporting cast, especially "Heimlich". Brody did a good job of creating a high school environment without belaboring the point. All in all, My Life Undecided is an enjoyable, quick read that also stops to make you think: What if someone else did make all your decisions for you? How would your life change? Would it change?

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that this characters Brooklyn acted like a teenager. Flawed and not sure what to do.What grabbed me the most about this book is the great plot. The reader is introduce to Brooklyn who has been messing up her entire life. I like that she took control of her life and made new choices. The pacing of the book is perfect for those who enjoy different things coming at you. One minute Brooklyn does something right and the next she is in trouble again. Brooklyn really does have a knack for making some big mistakes.I really enjoyed the characters growth. Brooklyn didn't learn from her mistakes right away. It took a few times for her to finally see what she needed to do. I liked that after all the trouble that she been through, it gave her the strength to see what is right in front of her all along. The love interest of this book is really adored. Simply because it is a love that it is right under your nose. I like that Brooklyn didn't see it at first. I like that the reader got to see Brooklyn eyes come to light little by little. I like that this love grew in front of the reader giving them time to enjoy the love the is flourishing. My Life Undecided is a great coming of age novel about a teen who just doesn't know what to do. The book is fresh yet unique. The reader is able to fall into the characters shoes, to see and feel all of what Brooklyn does. Written beautifully, this book takes you on a new reading adventure!

My Life Undecided: Brooklyn Pierce is horrible with choices. The outcome = distaster. A burnt down house, her falling down a well at 2 years of age are just a few problems. After making a big mistake Brooklyn decides to write a blog. That way others can make their choices for her. That shoud be better right? Fiction Personally I thought that the idea of the story was a great idea, I just didn't like how it was written. There was mild language scattered throughout the book, and I don't know about you but I really don't want that much detail about a kiss. Minus those parts it was fun seeing the posts she put on her blog, and hearing about what everyone wanted her to do.

Brooklyn Pierce has a few decisions to make but based on her latest ones, she's not so keen on making them anytime soon. That's okay, since she's decided on a more hands off approach. That's right. YOU get to make the decisions for her no matter the situation...and she has to follow the results through regardless of what she wants. To me, especially right about now (oye...life....she is a formidable foe... -dons battle armor-), this book presented an interesting and let's face it, appealing idea. What would readers (as in YOU) decide if given the chance to make MY choices in any given situation? I mean some of you "know" me to some degree or another so the trust factor is there, but for those of use that are merely acquaintances or down-right strangers....the outcome of such a choice is a bit more unknown and on the scary side. Would you take the time to get to "know" me based on what I revealed in my blog posts and decide from there? Or would you just click on the decision that you thought was best come heck or high water? I don't know. As much as making decisions can make your (or my) head spin, I'm not certain I could allow others to make those choices for me FOREVER...but every now and again, yeah...most definitely. Maybe its the adult in me talking but at some point responsibility kicks in and simply blaming the outcome on someone else (or even having that option available to you) seems like a cop out. Am I entirely happy with every aspect of my life right now? No. But be honest. Are you? If you are, fantabulous....please tell me your secret. But if not, you are among a myriad of company...and I'd say that's a great place to start when trying to accomplish your dreams in life no matter how big or small. Moving from messages to.....the story. I liked the mix of big decisions and small quandaries as well as the love interest angle worked in. None of them overwhelmed the story thus allowing you a more well rounded view of her life. The time she spent with Mrs. Moody was heart warming even if it was a trial of sorts for a young girl (let's just say the lady did not simply get her name from her parents) and showed how spending time with those of the generation before (or before that or before that) us can bring everyone a little more happiness in the end. Her "best friend" Shayne....oye did I want to just slap that girl....why? Oh, trust me...read it and you'll see. I was a bit worried about Brooklyn for a while there though especially when Shayne's influence was gaining control once again....it was one of those times you just want to take the main character and be like "look, you KNOW better....what the heck are you doing?"....know what I mean?In the end, a fun book with a great concept that would certainly lead to daydreams of trying it out for yourself (in small, non-lethal doses), but luckily the messages gleaned from Brooklyn's experiences are loud and clear....make your decisions to the best of your ability and live with the consequences. You won't be alone whether the outcome is good or bad but it is the only way to gain control of your own life and have a say in the dream you eventually achieve. Recommended reading for teens through adults...there's a little something for everyone in this quick and breezy read. From love to friends, higher education to simply what to wear, the choices are varied, the outcomes uncertain but one thing is certain....you'll have a grand time seeing her adventure through.

Jessica Brody knows how to bring the fun! I was giggling like crazy throughout this entire book. My Life Undecided was just overall a fun read! Although it was humorous and hit the spot, it was also heart breaking. It just captures everything about a real teen's life and the essence of decision making. Whether the decisions are just everyday ones or huge ones, it doesn't matter. They all play a roll in how things play out and this seemed to be the overall concept here.Brody has a crisp writing style and it plays along with the story so well that I actually got lost in Brooklyn's world! Brooklyn is quite the fun character. She's in style and up to date on the latest trends. She's popular and has a best girlfriend who has all the same interests...boys and fashion. That's all until she makes a very bad decision to throw an awesome party in her mom's model home, which goes awry. Brooklyn ends up getting into major trouble. She up and decides her decisions will be managed by her blog followers.I can't tell you how many times the narration from Brooklyn made me laugh...out loud. By myself. She was full of awesome and spunk. She wasn't afraid to go through with the decisions her blog followers made. Along the way she meets cute boys, Hunter and Brian. Hunter I wasn't really a fan of. He was too bad bad boy for me, as in he didn't make a good bad boy, haha! On the other hand, Brian, was the dorky-friend-type guy I fell for from the start. My Life Undecided is about learning from mistakes and taking all things into consideration. There's consequences and rewards, it comes with the territory of growing up. I loved the overall message here and it was written in such a fun way, there's no way you'd be bored! Romance plays a small role and (even though I love me some romance) I liked it that way. I liked that the focus was on Brooklyn's adventures and mishaps.I suggest this book to anyone who wants a fantastically funny read! I hope you all can get your paws on a copy.Review based on ARC copy
