Reviews for Fate (My Blood Approves, #2)

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is the 2nd book in the series. Although I felt like most of the story was a "filler" and it wasn't as terrific as the 1st, it is definitely worth reading, and I am going on to book 3 now as I need to know what happens next to these Characters.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5'twas good! a little too focused on the romance, but again, i'm guessing i didn't realize it was more of a supernatural romance novel than just a supernatural one. :]
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Once again enjoyed the 2nd installment of this Series. The twists and turns it took were inviting and interesting. I am excited to start reading the next book. It still reminds me a little of another series but there are definitive differences that make it its own.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent, emotion filled, action packed.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a fantastic follow on from My Blood Approves. It follows Alice's struggle with what her heart wants to what her blood wants. There was an unexpected twist that was great. Alice certainly got into trouble a lot. This wad another page turner & I couldn't put it down.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I'm not sure what is compeling me to read these books, but I cannot stop reading them. It feels like a train wreck waiting to happen and I'm along for the ride. I'm on to book 3.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I still hate Alice. I still think she's a simpering, whining brat. Even more so in this book than in the first. I question why I'm still reading the series, to be honest, with all the glaring mistakes I'm finding throughout it. I did, however, enjoy the book over all. I know that sounds odd, but I am enjoying it.I was quite upset with the ending of this book. Thankfully, I don't have to wait to find out what happens, but had I been reading this and waiting for another book to be released, I'd be incredibly pissed off. I do not like abrupt endings, and this was too abrupt.Despite the flaws, I do like the series and have already moved on to the next book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm not even sure where to begin! Basically this book starts off with a terrible accident that changes several things in Alice's already complicated life. Plans that she had fully intended on setting into motion have to come to a halt. So she is left spending a lot of time contemplating her future. Especially when Jack becomes too preoccupied to spend time with Alice the way they had both initially intended, before things got even stickier... I liked how we got to learn a little more about the other characters, Mae and Ezra, in this book. Alice spends some more time with them and hears about their pasts, which proves to be interesting and informative for her. Sadly, if you're a Peter fan, he is absent for most of the book. But of course he shows up just in time to accidentally stir things up, while simultaneously saving Alice from some trouble. Of course, along with Peter comes the heavy tension between him and Jack. He's still pissed at Jack for "overstepping his bounds", and Jack is pissed at him because of a certain incident that happened at the end of the first book. Unfortunately, Alice is caught right in the middle. The confrontation between Peter and Jack leads right up to the ending, which was somewhat shocking but yet not surprising (if that makes any sense). There was definitely an infuriating cliffhanger that left me scrambling to retrieve the third book on my Nook, but rest assured because the first chapter of "Flutter" (the third book) pretty much lets you in on what happened. Therefore, I would like to advise you to go ahead and have a copy of the third book handy so you can save yourself the frustration and distress! So overall, the second installment of "My Blood Approves" did not disappoint or fall short for me, and I think that if you liked the first book you will definitely like the second one.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked this book. I have been reading the series straight through and the books are all kind of running into each oher. So things that set this book apart I can't really remember.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Amanda Hocking knows how to take paranormal vampire YA romance to the next level. While I found many similarities between the first book, My Blood Approves, and Twilight, she breaks the mold and moves into uncharted territory in Fate. The characters I loved from the first book are all here, including two new vamps who amp-up the danger. There are plenty of plot twists I didn't expect, and it kept me guessing until the very end. Let's face it, the main interest in the series is the love triangle between Alice, Jack, and Peter. If you're looking for a resolution, you won't find it in Fate. Throughout most of the book, Alice and Jack fight to keep their distance from each other to save themselves from Peter's wrath. (Peter does briefly show up toward the end of the book, but not in the dramatic scene we expect. We are left to believe that will be resolved in a later installment.) However, even though they are unable to be physically intimate with each other, that does not mean their relationship is at a standstill. If anything, Alice begins to love him more as she realizes how deeply Jack loves her. Milo is a major player in Fate. I don't want to reveal any plot details, but he comes to the forefront as a character whose actions have major consequences for Alice. In the end, you're left with a better understanding of each character's motivations and dying with curiosity about Alice's choices for the future. During Fate, she is mostly questioning what she wants in life and trying to figure out what her destiny is. I'm glad that she is mature enough to realize the gravity of immortality and not rush to quickly decide. My only complaint is with the editing. Amanda Hocking is such a good author that she deserves a much better editor. An occasional small mistake can be easily overlooked, but there are so many in Fate that it truly affects the flow of the story. There were whole paragraphs that didn't seem to belong within a chapter, and there were moments where time had passed without any transition whatsoever, making it difficult to follow at times. The plot and characterization are so strong, though, that I am looking forward to Flutter, the third book in the series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Amanda Hocking is quickly becoming a young adult writer to take notice of .This is an amazing new series that should be more popular than it is. In the second installment of the My Blood Approves series readers will bond even more with characters that have become like friends and will continue to see the relationship between Alice and Jack evolve. This story picks up right where the previous book left off and throws in new complications as more people learn of their supernatural secret and lives are changed forever. Who will she choose? Will she or won’t she? This book will throw you for a loop and keep you guessing until the very end.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Again, I was not disappointed with Amanda Hocking. This book continues the Alice and Jack love saga that honestly, I wasn't sure which way I wanted it to go. There is not one character I do not like in this book, and I quickly read through the book to see where it would lead. I started to feel like I was Alice and can say I was very annoyed with the way things played out once she had to make a crucial decision for Milo. I was jealous myself when Jack and Milo became close. I found myself wanting Peter to return just to give Alice some sort of spitefulness. My emotions were all over the place toward the end and I'm sure they will continue in the next book.Fate is a seamless sequel to My Blood Approves. Ms. Hocking has done a wonderful job of writing that has me rooting for certain things to happen and keeps my stomach tied in knots while reading and waiting to see if they will. I recommend this book for fantasy and young adult readers. For those of you just starting the series, what a treat to be able to read the books back to back and not wait for release dates.
