    Little Bear, a member of the Blackfoot tribe of what is now the southern plains of the Province of Alberta, has a dream of uniting the friendly neighboring tribe into a confederation that will protect them for common enemies such as the Cree to the north, the Assiniboine to the east, and many south tribes that want their lands and resources.
    He is thwarted by the leaders of his own tribe as well as those of other tribes, but he perseveres and after many setbacks succeeds.
