Muffin Puffin and the Joys of Cruising - Catherine McGrew Jaime
Introduction
Hi, I’m Muffin Puffin and I’m here to share my pointers on cruising. I may not be the most experienced cruiser you’ll find, but I bet I’m the most experienced cruising puffin you’ll ever know! I’ve actually written three books on cruising before this one: Muffin Puffin and the Whale Tale, Muffin Puffin: Cruising to Cozumel and Muffin Puffin Cruises the West Caribbean (well, to be honest, the last one is still a work in progress, but by the time you read this one, it may be done!)
I’ve had the extreme pleasure of taking three cruises over the last four summers – one with Princess, one with Carnival, and the most recent one with Royal Caribbean. My regular traveling companion, Aunt Cathy, takes trips many other ways too, usually by airplane or by car – but I have decided cruising is the way to travel for me! It is a great way to vacation, and a wonderful way to start seeing the world. Sure, sometimes it would be nice to spend longer than five or six hours in one country, but cruising can be a great way to get an introduction to places you might never have gone to otherwise, or to places that now you know you want to go back to.
So if you considered cruising, but worry about all the unknowns, or if you’ve really never thought about cruising, come along, maybe I can help show you how much fun it is. In fact, it’s hard for me to imagine anyone not enjoying a cruise – if you like to people watch, you’ll have plenty of opportunities for that. If you prefer alone time, or time with a special someone, a cruise is a great place for that, too! If you’re worried about seasickness, that isn’t generally a problem either. These ships are huge – even the smaller ones. We felt the rocking of the ship a little when we got into the Pacific Ocean on our way to the Inner Passage, and to a smaller degree once or twice in the Caribbean, but most
