    Bibliography

    Introduction

    D. N. A.

    D -Divine - from or like God, the providence of God

    N -Nature-the basic or inherent features of something

    A -Attribute - to regard something as being caused by someone or something.

    You might ask; Why did you write this book? I probably should confess that I did not sit down with the thought in mind of writing a book. Rather, the inspiration for this writing was born out of study, observation and experience. Over the years I have seen the Holy Spirit raise up the men and women of God for needed service to the body of Christ. I am sure that you have observed it as well.

    They don't always seem to fit the part; they seem to be like everyone else, nothing special, until their spiritual DNA, Divine Nature Attribute kicks in. You can call them by whatever title you desire, I prefer to call them champions. I have often contemplated the question, what is it that causes some people to rise to the occasion and to greatness while others never seem to get out of the starting gate?

    It is my belief that God provides not only a seed of faith, but a spiritual DNA for each life so we are able to achieve our divine purpose or destiny. He has predetermined the divine components that will enable us to become the person that He has divinely designed us to be;

    A Champion for God.

    It is possible to search the Scripture and find examples of ordinary men and women, who in the divine timing of God with the divine enablement of God, rose to the occasion and became a champion! Not only for God, but for the people as well.

    These men and women came from diverse backgrounds ranging from simple to complex, for they didn't always have special training or come from socially prominent families. They often ascend from what seems like mundane, uneventful circumstances or surroundings, to be enshrined in God’s hall of champions.

    They are men and women with a simple faith, who do great exploits for God. They are men and women who are willing to accept the covenant promises of God, coupled with the direction and purpose of God for their life. It is from this place that our Heavenly Father is able to orchestrate the DNA that is needed for His divine purpose.

    A review of Scripture frequently reveals men and women, men like David, Abraham and Paul and Timothy and women like Esther and Ruth, the Samaritan woman at the well, Martha and Mary who were used for His glory and purpose.

    As you identify God’s champions from the scripture, certain divine attributes begin to reveal themselves. They may not be apparent in the beginning. They are often covered by the foliage of life; they seem to lie dormant and unnoticed until it is time for action and then like new life released from the seed they break forth. I would be confident in saying that there are many in the family of God who have not yet embraced their divine destiny. The DNA is present the only thing needed is the touch of God to reveal it.

    My prayer is that our Great God and Savior will awaken you to His divine purpose and to your Divine Nature Assignment.

    Chapter 1

    David

    From A Shepherd Boy To A Champion

    1 Samuel 17:23-26;

    "Then as he talked with them, there was the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, coming up from the armies of the Philistines; and he spoke according to the same words. So David heard them. 24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid. 25 So the men of Israel said, Have you seen this man who has come up? Surely he has come up to defy Israel; and it shall be that the man who kills him the king will enrich with great riches, will give him his daughter, and give his father's house exemption from taxes in Israel. 26 Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

    What constitutes a champion? By definition it is; A person who fights for or defends any person or cause. In Hebrew, it actually means; The man who stands between. In the case of Israel and the Philistines we are told that the one who was standing between the two nations was Goliath and he was looking for a fight.

    Champions at this time were used to settle disputes between nations. You send out your best man and we will send out ours and whoever prevails, to the victor go the spoils. It is very obvious that when you are involved in this type of a situation you are going to choose your best trained and most experienced warrior. This is no place for a novice but the Philistines discovered their champion was made to look like one when a shepherd shows up with a sling five smooth stones!

    Not only was Goliath experienced and a man of war from his youth, but the scripture tells us he was also intimidating. He looked the part and he had lived the part.

    It is no wonder that Israel had a problem finding someone to represent them. They had searched for a man but none had come forward. In desperation, the King offered an impressive reward to the man that could defeat this giant. Israel was in desperate need of a champion and God was about to give them one.
