About this ebook

Quantum Imagery is an easy to follow, concise introductory guide that reveals the mystery behind the phenomena we call Art and WHY it is more than what we commonly think it is. Explaining why art facilitates the healing process, it goes beyond the visual descriptions of art to present an understanding of its spiritual, transformational power, integrating knowledge from the world of art psychotherapy, metaphysics and quantum physics.

"In his book, Quantum Imagery, Ed explores questions that we did not know we were asking and makes connections for life's mysteries that we were unaware that we needed. Quantum Imagery inspires the reader to go to a realm that encourages them to seek answers to some of the universe's most complicated concepts about life and human nature."
- Dee Dee Lichtenberg-Scanlan, LCAT, Adjunct Professor of Art Therapy, Long Island University

" There is an invisible world - already present - that is longing to be revealed. There are individuals, and Ed is one of them, that have the ability to hear, feel and acknowledge this world and reveal it. Quantum Imagery provides the foundation for understanding what we call "art" and how it relates to the worlds of therapy and beyond."
- Dr. Alan Sherr, author of the award winning "Heart Of The Healer," Director, Northport Wellness Center and Hyperbaric Associates of America

For my sons Corey and Jake ...

vibrational masters in their own rights.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I want to thank my family for their constant support. My wife Sharman, whose unwavering love allowed me to go deep sea diving in the spiritual world over many years. This book could not have been written without her consistent anchoring me in this reality, as she grounded me in love. To my sons Corey and Jake, for all their love and Remo, my constant companion.

In addition, thank you to my brother Paul, who was always there at every tough moment along the way. To all of my extended family, Roz, Nat, Stephanie, Alex, Lindsey, Jackie, Ben, Mimi, Pam, Vicki, Rich, Craig, Leah, Camille, Debbie and Michael, my clients, patients, and everyone who over the years entertained my unusual ideas.

I would like to especially thank my editor Lauren N. Fabrizio, who had the patience and fortitude to force me to sit down and lasso my thoughts and feelings. Without her incredible editing, this book would never have been possible.

    EDITOR'S NOTE

    "The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;

the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.

Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man."

    George Bernard Shaw

When I first started working with Ed, I was just out of graduate school. I had trained to be an art therapist, and yet this term and the profession itself still eluded me. In my job interview with Ed, he asked me, What is art therapy? and I can remember feeling flustered and nervous, struggling to put words to something I knew so much about in my heart and soul. This was a career path that was not only a job, but also felt to me like my life's purpose. So, why was it so hard to talk about it?

This job was the beginning of my real world training—where I'd have to define my terms, and not only attempt to understand the people I was working with, but also the systems in which I was working.

I was a brand new professional, and here was my supervisor with thirty-plus years of experience and a force of passion about what he does and how he does it. Ed is particular, to say the least, and by learning his philosophy, I was exposed to a whole world of understanding about concepts of art, therapy, and healing that I was simply not taught in school.

Ed was my supervisor, but he became a teacher and mentor as well. After two years, I left my job and traveled to Costa Rica to complete yoga-teacher training. I've since continued my career as an art therapist, working with and developing programs for women with eating disorders.

Throughout the past few years, as I've continued my journey, Ed and I began to work together in a different capacity. I became his editor. Through his teachings, it became clear he not only had a story to share, but he had invaluable knowledge about healing
