    Introduction

    By Joe Tabeling

Each and every one of us is born into this world as winners. We competed against millions of other cells to get here. So what has happened to the drive? What has caused our positive attitude to be pushed down into the dark abyss of our soul? Why does our excitement and joy of life only surface for a brief visit upon an unexpected job offer or finding a $20 bill on the ground?

Everything we are born with is meant to be used. So why is it that we allow the key ingredient to our success to be locked up and hidden? Maybe it started with our parents. They encouraged us to walk and talk. They were excited when we finally did. However as soon as we began doing too much the word NO! was introduced. And teachers, please don’t take this the wrong way. When I was growing up, I had some great and inspirational teachers and coaches. Sadly, they were out numbered. The teachers with the negative attitudes left the biggest impression. Remember getting test papers back with big red X’s highlighting our mistakes. There would be comments written in red stating, We didn’t study enough or We should have known that. Negative, negative, negative! Occasionally we would receive a positive comment but that was in red also. Aren’t they forgetting the color red promotes aggressiveness, assertiveness and negativity? Well that’s another discussion for a later time.

Maybe it’s the various experiences we have growing up. Some
