    When Thomas took this job his expectations were not too high of this Southern city anyway. He had been around many laboratories in his short career and had worked many a job in hospital settings.

    During his schooling as an X-ray technologist, he had worked as an orderly in an emergency room. Having been around hospitals all his life since his mother had been a nurse, he had the easy familiarity of one, knowing his way around

    With the job came a warning from his recruiter that this lab was known for its beautiful women. He could not imagine that this was one of the characteristics mentioned to him by the man who placed him in the job.

    There are some great lookers there too, said the jughead. They say there are some great legs in that place, great pieces of ass to hear them tell it. All getting in serious trouble in the cleaning closets.

    He had chuckled at his own dumb joke, with Thomas just listening without comment.

    The truth was when Thomas did show up to work, he was stunned by the string of beautiful women that he was introduced to. The man was not a cheat but a man, still. Married, but not dead.

    The room where he worked for that first week was fairly docile with two other male technicians.

    So, where do you come from?

    New York, said Thomas.

    Nice, said the other, clearly impressed.

    Yeah it was. Wife wanted to come down here for a change. Too fast and too slick for her tastes.

    How many cases did you guys do a day?

    It ranged from ten to fifteen. Call sucked too. But, we got paid a mint.

    We get paid two dollars an hour here for call.

    Yeah. They told me. I was getting paid half my hourly in call time. We killed for it, genuinely amused.

    Beautiful women in this lab, commented Thomas to the two men.
