    Developing Your Local Marketing Campaign

    Find Out What To Sell And Targets To Sell To In Your Locality

    Just like you will do for selling your Eco Consultant service on the Internet, you will also need to get information specific to your locality that will help you to sell your Eco Consultant service locally. You may use your local publications or government publications for your state, city, zip code and even the internet to find out what eco target groups are in your locality, the income levels of these target groups or revenue from eco products/services from previous years’ records and statistics up till now. These will let you know how much eco targets in your locality can afford, which part of the eco market in your locality is growing, eco services and products they are buying, what sells the most in your locality and the different types of eco service consultancy being provided in your locality.

    Researching what others are providing and surveying what your local targets want/need, will let you identify eco specific problems and needs in your locality, the competitors you have in the locality, and what they are charging for eco services they provide and the products they sell. Search engines, search engine directories, your area and location online directories, offline directories, yellow pages online/offline etc may give you more information on specific groups of targets in your locality. This will help you to avoid choosing targets that are not in your locality.

    With these, you can know the local target groups you may add more value to and also choose the target groups to serve and the services to provide to them. Give yourself an edge over your competitors in your locality by using unique promotional tactics and value that differentiate your Eco Consultant service from that of your competitors.

    If you discover after your local research, that the number of potential targets in your locality may not be sufficient enough to invest the time and money required to provide your service locally, you may if you want, provide your service in more than one locality and expand the areas and locations you wish to work. You may do further research on such localities too.

    For your local sales you will need to create a portfolio of your skills with samples of previous work done, you can do some low pay job or work for free to get some work experience, you want to have some references for working somewhere. Any local promotional material you use for promoting your Eco Consultant business too should have your website URL printed or embossed on it.

    You will also want to make provisions for keeping the list of leads (that is, prospects) you may get, through your local contacts, promotions and advertising.

    You will also need to keep a list of customers from your local sales. You can create any one of these lists with a simple electronic spreadsheet program (you can download a free electronic spreadsheet program from the OpenOffice.org suite on the internet or use the
