    "Open Water" is the name of the first level of diving.
    This book was written in the spirit of the travel writing with elements of comedy, black comedy and it also includes a "diving manual" for the dummies.
    The first dummy and protagonist of this book is - herself Olga, the heroine of the book. She is far away from being a good diver since she finds it uninteresting, she doesn’t understand it and rejects it. Also, she has a little bit of a problem – she fears diving.
    Russian Diving center is also a center of fun and amusing encounters with many different funny situations that happened at the dive center or during diving.

    Дайвинг – это не только модно, но и весело, особенно если «открытую воду» - так называется начальный курс обучения дайвингу – проходить в Таиланде, на острове Ко Тао, который иначе называют «дайверской деревней».
    Эта повесть задумана как «дайверское пособие» для «чайников». Первый же «чайник» - сама главная героиня книги. Ей пришлось пройти путь от полного неприятия и страха перед дайвингом до получения сертификата «Открытая вода», и в результате она полюбила дайвинг всей душой. Ну, во-первых, это весело...
    Сколько курьезов происходит во время погружений! На одного напал триггер-фиш, другой погрузился с пустым баллоном, поленившись предварительно проверить наличие воздуха, третий заблудился в мутной воде. Кто-то решил «порыбачить» в акваланге, кого-то позабыли на акульем сайте, и корабль едва не уплыл без него. Но все хорошо, что хорошо кончается.
    На маленьком пространстве русского дайвцентра разворачиваются любовные и служебные интриги. А еще это место удивительных встреч: из России приезжают понырять бандиты и милиционеры, модели и кинорежиссеры, бизнесмены и таможенники – те, кого на родине не встретишь просто так на улице. Взяточник он, чиновник-бюрократ или профессиональный киллер – когда он надевает гидрокостюм с аквалангом, то становится просто дайвером и подчиняется общим правилам поведения под водой: дышит глубоко и медленно, радуется рыбкам и кораллам и, конечно, чувствует счастье единения с природой.

    Olga Skvirskaya is a 36 year old journalist from Siberia with a Master’s degree in Musicology and with a professional journalism career. She currently lives in Thailand, on beautiful Koh Samui. Before coming to Thailand, Olga was working as television journalist in Russia. She is the author of many documentary movies about Russian history and social stories. Many were translated into English, German, Italian, Polish, French and Ukrainian and shown on their National television.She also worked as a speaker in one private television studio and as Arts and Culture journalist for Russian newspaper “Telesem” and “Komsomolskaya Pravda”. Olga likes to play piano, paint oil sea landscapes, dive and practice Kung Fu.“Open Water” is her first book; it is a comedy, or even some parts are black comedy with the subjects of many different situations in diving centres on Koh Tao. Olga wrote her book while she was living there, on famous “Diving Island”. She is currently writing her second book which is about people living on Koh Samui.
