John Stewart

Victoria and John Stewart reside in Canada, where they have raised two sons and run several businesses. They each have been educated in their own discipline, John with a master's degree in Architecture from the University of Manitoba, and Victoria with a Master of Arts degree in environmental economics from the University of Calgary. Most recently they have taken on a new thrust to explore the question of how humanity, as one nation of people, can begin to bridge the gap between the world we have today and the world we all want tomorrow. Most important to this cause has been their desire to see this world change for the betterment of humankind as a whole and to somehow play a role in what this could be. This has been the main determination in setting them on this path of exploration to find the answers that humanity has been searching for, for simply eons of time—answers that may well take us into a future we will all want to be in. Now, it is with great hope for what this world can become inside a new state of human awareness that they present this book and the messages herein. If you would like to follow us go to www.profoundeffect.ca

    Why Media Literacy?

The on-demand generation is here. We all live in a constantly connected world. Rapid changes in technology are offering new ways for people to interact, access information, and learn. As educators preparing students to navigate this complex world, we must ensure that schools keep pace and successfully deliver life skills necessary for full participation in our media saturated, information rich society. (Hobbs, 2010) The 2009 Knight Commission report, Informing Communities: Sustaining Democracy in the Digital Age, is very clear when it states, the time to bring digital and media literacy into the mainstream of American communities is now. (Knight, 2009)
