Narratively rich…
One of the best time travel stories since H.G. Wells—not because of the sci-fi spectacle aspect or the historically significant plot, but because of the subtle, human story that’s told against a narratively rich backdrop.

Описание

On November 22, 1963, three shots changed the world in Dallas. President Kennedy died and the world changed, but what if you could change it back?

Stephen King tells a brilliantly enthralling story that will absorb you with its social, political, and pop cultural journey back to the 1960s.

It all begins with Jake Epping, an English teacher in his mid 30s in Lisbon Falls, Maine, who makes extra money teaching GED classes. For an assignment, he asks his students to write about a life-changing event they experienced, and when Harry Dunning (the school’s janitor) turns in his essay, it blows Jake away. Harry was just a child in 1963 when his father came home, raging drunk, and beat Jake’s mother, sister, and brother to death with a sledgehammer. Jake was completely caught off guard by this essay, and still mentally processing it when he goes to his favorite diner to see his friend Al. But Al isn’t looking too hot, and when he collapses, he tells his secret to Jake: a secret door back to 1958 exists in the back of the diner, and Jake can use it to travel back in time and stop the Kennedy assassination, or perhaps even stop a drunken father from beating his family to death…
