The Abortion Explosion - Bea Dorhnn
War is hell
The death toll...a comparison and pure fact.
Ever since the Atom bomb was dropped the world has tried to put at bay weapons of mass destruction. The world and its leaders have had summits, special meetings, agreements, promises and so on to slow the growth of and the use of weapons of mass destruction. There have been millions of deaths due to weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). World War II alone has accounted for some 60-80 million deaths. This includes deaths due to genocide, poisoning, gas, chemical and nuclear since all can be named as WMDs.
Since the year 50 B.C. there have been 594,700,000 deaths due to wars. That is in a time frame of 2,072 years (at the time of this writing May 2014) or a rough average of 287, 017 deaths per year. Death toll includes estimates of all deaths that are either directly or indirectly caused by war. These numbers usually include both the deaths of military personnel which are the direct results of battle or other military wartime actions, as well as the wartime/war-related deaths of civilians, which are the results of war induced epidemics, diseases, famines, atrocities, genocide etc. Note: The total was used from the highest number of the list of war death tolls.
That is nearly 595 million people executed (war is not pretty) in 2,072 years. Let’s repeat that. 595 million people killed in two thousand seventy two years or 287 thousand a year. And these deaths occurred via a multitude of methods such as bombs, fires, WMDs, bow and arrow, poison, chemicals, deceases, epidemics, famines, knives, pistols and other types of weapons.
Here is a list of recorded deaths by year and the war if interested, if not skip to the next chapter.
