Ten Days to Daily Yoga - Mia Randall

    Preface

Unless we have physical problems, the only thing that really holds us back from daily (or regular) yoga is our own minds.

It’s so easy to blame circumstances – but blaming our situation can obscure the real reason we fail to practice on a regular basis!

Regardless of your yoga schedule, I very much hope that you will derive some benefit from this book to help you on your path to regular practice.

If you want to build up your motivation to practice at home regularly several times a week (with or without additional classes), then this book should assist.

If you practice at classes only, then that’s fine too. I love to attend classes and find that they really challenge and invigorate my practice. If you don’t have a home yoga practice that’s fine, you can get exactly the same benefit from this book. Just read the day’s guidance notes and try to incorporate them into your time on and off the mat.

    Why do yoga regularly?

We hold so much stress in our bodies. This isn’t just stress from the previous 24 hours but it’s also stress that has accumulated over time.

Yoga is a great way to get rid of it!

If we haven’t been doing regular yoga, we’ve been allowing it to build up in our bodies, causing stiffness and aches and pains.

We might even have stiffnesses that we don’t even know are there, until we do yoga and notice that certain parts of our bodies are stiffer than others.

Think of yoga as a psychic cleanse - ridding your body and soul of all that accumulated discomfort and stress.

    Sound good doesn’t it!

So why don’t we practice more often?

There are many reasons. We might feel that we are too busy. We might forget the many benefits of doing yoga. Forgetting those can take us way off track.

This book has been written to get you back to regular practice and keep you there!

Later in the book we’ll explore the wonderful benefits of yoga. There are actually quite a few!

Revisiting the benefits on a regular basis is a great way of keeping motivated and you will be encouraged to do this throughout the 10 days.

This program doesn’t require you to practice yoga every single day. You actually get 3 days off – days 4 and 5 and again on day 7.

This is for two reasons. Firstly it will give your body and mind a chance to rest and recuperate - I’m not going to overwork you!

Secondly it will emulate a realistic yoga schedule for a lot of people. Many of us don’t actually want to do yoga on a daily basis and feel
