just to hold his hand and follow him

keeping all her desires in her hand

A girl becomes a sea with waves of emotions like happiness, fortune, anxiety, nervousness and sorrow, any; as she is living the moment of just being married. She smiles with teary eyes as she has just been separated from her blood relations and smiles because she is keen and anticipatingly happy to move on with her life, her love, her man. In arranged marriages it’s all the faith on God and parents that is about to be paid. Though all moms in India nurture their daughters with the seed of patience, adjustment, honesty, devotion and love to their partners and family but still she is pruned as a herb in her teenage years so that she remains pure, human and still a girl with all of it.

This was that day of my life where I was in the car moving to my new place, my new home and family as my marriage was arranged by our parents. After crying for an hour, which got elaborated due to my big joint family departing… now in car I was almost sleepy in those early hours of morning. Whole night went on with the rituals and customs of Hindu wedding and the early morning started with crying. I was almost sleeping with my heart sizzling on the platter of why, how, what? And my mind, as the ruler, was answering them relatively with all the pros and cons of them.

Why girls have to leave their home and place? Boys are so less deprived of their things? Our life changes completely? Why parents marry girls yaar? Don’t they love us any more? I am not really ready for this husband thing? How am I going to spend my rest of life there? God is so partial? It should be fifty-fifty… six months at boy’s place six months at Girl’s? Yes! This sounds a better idea… But shit yaar? Why only with girls? And this is how my never ending list went on.

All the weeping made me sleepy, I don’t remember I fall asleep answering my heart & its questions. I came back to my consciousness when I heard all bursting into laughter in the car. I wondered what could be funny in this emotionally departing arranged marriage system.

Kiran you won, you have cried for a longer time and distance that my wife did at her wedding day. My elder brother in law Aditya (jijaji) joked at me teasing both of us me and my elder sister in law dimpy didi, who along with Aditya Jijaji, my younger sister in law puja, me kiran and my hubby karan were driving back to my in-laws place with all the other relatives following in their respective cars.

Kiran you are a winner in a cry baby award category. Clap for her guys. My brother in law Aditya Jijaji teased me again and every body laughed even more loudly than previous. This time even my elder sister in-law, my dimpy didi also laughed at me. I felt so bad, even Karan was laughing, he who because of him I had to leave my parents and house is laughing at me. How bad! seriously these men are men. I tell you! in my next life I will play husband and let him play wife and then laugh at him. Hmm.

Every eye was on me in the car I guess they all wanted to lighten my mood so I fake smiled slowly to prove myself their most worthy choice of bride at that very moment. It was too early for them to judge I know but I sometimes behave over ambitious. Hmm!! Actually there is never a right time to do a right thing, it’s like whenever we put our heart in something, we feel it’s right at that moment and if its right according to us, then when things go wrong. I guess in this right and wrong judgment only life keeps on moving.

We all were standing in front of my new home and my new family with all new relatives were discussing and negotiating with the younger members what they can get to unlock me, their new daughter, in law into the house. Yes, me and Karan were both sitting in the car that too locked from outside with keys in Aditya Jijaji’s pocket and all Dimpy didi, Puja and other cousins from in-laws were negotiating the deal. I am sure karan was too tempted to go out and crack the best deal for both the parties as he is a gold medalist M.B.A. in finance currently working in a renowned bank. But that cutie pie was sitting with me holding me by my shoulder and listening all the discussion from inside. How sweet na!!

Well! Well! that means he has understood that I had to leave my family for him. That’s very good!! he should be. It’s not a small sacrifice after all. Hmm!! Good! Interesting!

Finally we were unlocked and we stepped out of the car to move inside and all started gazing at me. I guess all were trying to measure my beauty inside out and so I grew nervous, but Karan’s company was very comforting and giving me a companionship feel. I was enjoying following him, some times moving ahead of him too but majorly I was adoring the fact of him supporting me when I was stumbling due to my nervous new path of life.

Actually we women are like that
