About this ebook

# 1 New York Times Bestseller

The inspiration for season two of BRIDGERTON, a series created by Shondaland for Netflix, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn: the story of Anthony Bridgerton in the second of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family.

ANTHONY’S STORY

This time the gossip columnists have it wrong. London’s most elusive bachelor Anthony Bridgerton hasn’t just decided to marry—he’s even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended’s older sister, Kate Sheffield—the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate’s the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams...

Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes do not make the best husbands—and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate’s determined to protect her sister—but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony’s lips touch hers, she’s suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself...

Lots of fun and a couple of absolutely hilarious moments, mainly caused by an overweight corgi. She's not Heyer, but an enjoyable way to fill the time.

This one is Anthony and Kate, and Kate is my favorite so far.

Anthony and Kate's story is a hate to love historical romance. I have to say in reading this second book in the series that at times it doesn't feel like I'm reading a book set back in the early 1800s. I rather liked Kate's character and was rooting for her throughout the book. Another easy read.

romance, ---pages, set in 1800's England. notorious rake Viscount pursues one sister only to fall for the other, more difficult one; the two struggle not to love one another, to no avail. set pattern romance, funny, a touch silly, medium sexual spice, very quick paced, likeable characters, warm and fuzzy. similar authors??

Delightful is the adjective I would use to describe the second installment in the Bridgerton series. For me, this is one of the those books which require little effort to read, make me laugh, and leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling. All of which makes them a bit addictive - I can't wait to learn how the next Bridgerton sibling will get paired off!

One of my all-time favorites. The sparring between these two is just fantastic. I laughed and/or grinned through 90% of this book. The remaining 10% I spent making stupid “awwww” sorts of noises that annoyed my dog. Highly recommended.

While not as light and skippity as the first book, this was still quite witty and charming - and the most amusing description of a croquet game I have ever read. And the bee sting made me laugh in a most unbecoming manner. This is the story of Anthony, who is determined to woo the season's beauty, but ends up falling for her unconventional sister. And while that sounds like a standard plot summary, both Anthony and Kate continually squish any sign of cliché, they are interesting and original characters. Oh, and Kate is not at all a shrew.

I think I read these early Bridgerton books a long time ago, but have little or no memory. This one rang no bells. It was a nice story. Far better than the first, but not nearly as good as the later books. I expect that as with the first book it will be far better in the hands of the residents of Shondaland.

Julia Quinn rarely lets me down and this book was no exception. I love her dialogue- it's snappy and it makes me laugh out loud in public. The hero's preoccupation with death seemed a little over the top to me, but Quinn explains it in an author's aside at the end of the book and I was able to accept that fear of dying a little easier.

Oh, I do love the Bridgerton Family! Each story is a wonderful romance with plenty of drama. A nice touch of steam to keep things naughty! Love this whole series and the epilogues!! And that Lady Whistledown is a hoot!! Such wonderfully engaging characters! Makes me wish I could be transported to that era!

I think this is my favorite couple!

The second book in the Bridgerton series follows oldest brother Anthony, who is willing to marry but has vowed never to fall in love. This proves difficult when he meets the unconventional Kate! Anthony seems to be a favourite Bridgerton amongst my peers but he’s not getting my vote.

I have a thing about Regency. As I said in other posts we will put it down to a previous lifetime and a pair of boots that kept getting trashed upsetting my valet. I'll just blame Reincarnation because I have no clue why I like this and that sounds as good as any excuse. So I read Regency in any form from Cornwell [sorry Sis] to Romance and in between. In fact I could know how to seat a table without a blink and who goes first in a crowd.

This is an amusing story and I enjoyed every minute of it. And unlike one author I know, she didn't have them running off to answer the phone because Prinny was calling. [We won't go there] My Other Half loved it. She liked Romances and she really enjoyed this book. It was a keeper for both of us from both the Romance and Regency side.

A little too Elizabeth-and-Darcy for my taste, and also a little too single-minded...every single chapter was just about Anthony and Kate. Where were all of the supporting characters we know and love? Still, a fun enough diversion.

It's worth reading just for the sibling banter during a croquet-esc death match Victorian style.

I enjoyed Anthony and Kate’s story, the most touching part was the relationship between Kate and her stepmother as so many of these types of books have the ‘evil’ stepmother storyline but I’m glad to say there is true love and care between both daughters and mother.
With Anthony having chosen a bride in Kate’s sister and Kate being her sister's biggest protector and her finding Anthony lacking this begins quite an entertaining journey for the pair and the reader.
Overall I would recommend this to adults only due to the explicit content.
Lady whistledown is very entertaining too and yes I know who she is?.
If you liked this review or it has helped you in some way could you please rate it I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I'd heard good things about this series well before the Netflix adaptation was announced, and I'm glad I decided to read them first having seen how much is different in the first book and first season of the show.I prefer the books :) This was a great read. Kate is wonderful. Other reviewers have pointed out how idiotic Anthony's philosophy seems when subjected to any level of scrutiny, but it made for a great story.Very recommended, but do read the The Duke & I first. Even if you 've seen the dramatization, there's a lot more fun to be found in the books.
