After spending over thirty five years in education I discovered my love for writing and decided that it was time to retire to create my own magical beach city. Modeled after Redondo Beach, California, where I grew up - I’ve had a super time introducing readers to the Merriman community. A family of witches filled with love, magic and never ending adventure, these three sisters and their extended family members are constantly running into one paranormal problem after another. My latest book, Murder By Magic, is my first attempt at writing a cozy mystery and I hope that you find as much enjoyment reading it as I did writing it. Feel free to stop by my website where you can see my other books and learn about my love for sewing and traveling. I even included a picture of me and one of my troll friends that I met on my recent trip to Bergen, Norway. www.meriamwilhelm.comI hope that you find your own magic soon...until then, you can borrow mine!

What Every Parent and Teacher Should Know
By: Meriam F. Wilhelm
During the elementary school years, one of the most important relationships a parent should have is with their child’s classroom teacher. The better you know the teacher and what is actually happening at your child's school and classroom, the more successful your child can be. Connecting with your child's teacher should be a priority as you start out each new school year.
One way to ensure that a fluid relationship exists between you and the teacher is by establishing and maintaining open lines of communication between home and school. This will require a bit of work on your part, but I assure you that you and your child will benefit greatly from this positive partnering with the teacher.
I’m going to share with you key times to meet with your teacher, how to interpret what he or she is saying and when to take your meeting to the next level. Finally, I will share with you several children’s books to help you help your child to make the most out of every school year.
Chapter 1
Steps For Building Strong School Relationships
Let me begin by addressing why it’s so important to establish a positive working relationship with your child’s classroom teacher.
If you think about it, on any given school day, most teachers see our kids as much or more than we do as parents. This is the individual with whom our child spends 7 to 9 hours of their day and from whom they will receive their academic, social and emotional modeling and instruction.
So it just makes sense that by connecting with the teacher and maintaining open lines of communication
