Introduction
On this book were going to be talking about the 2 predominant communication styles which should improve your effectiveness as a communicator, persuader and /or as a leader. Especially CRUCIAL to folks entering a new group of people where the perfect calibration of strength and approachability is crucial in gaining a solid foothold in the group.
People are too hung up on techniques and tactics without realizing there are actually 2 predominant modes or styles of communication one could shift into, to hit the `sweet spot ’and maximize communication and relationship effectiveness not to mention persuasiveness and compliance, from your peers and subordinates! Choosing the wrong one at the wrong time or to the wrong people? You lose respect, authority and they won’t follow or believe anything you say! Even worse…they’ll shun you out PERMANENTLY for coming in too strong or too weak and miscalibrated!
How do we know which style should be used when? And how to effectively execute each style will be covered in this book.
I personally began with rapport or soft styled communication because I studied NLP first, before getting into more direct styled persuasion systems. As a consequence? I alienated people, made enemies, made my newly formed relationships less productive than it should be, just because I didn’t know when to turn it on, and turn it off!
Only when I realized the value of both styles (Direct and Indirect), and when to use which, did my persuasion and relationships improve immensely!
You can expect the same results too!
The Newbie and his homework
If you’re coming in new to an organization? Let’s say you're the newest recruit, or you just recently joined the organization/group? You need to map everything out!
Try to do your homework properly! Know who the key players are, the haters, who are vying for certain positions and promotions, who are the go-getters, who are potential allies, the push overs, potential threats, the teachers' pets, the existing political climate within, existing alliances and enemies within that organization.
You also need to know who are the experts in their respective fields are, so you may tap into
