Our busy lives and advanced technologies have made us think a lot. This has made our life easy on one hand, and a nuisance on the other.

William Osler famously said, One of the first duties of the physician is to educate the masses not to take medicine. I realised the importance of health when I was diagnosed with sciatica. I was in severe pain and doctors just prescribed painkillers in different combinations, and I was told that I had to live with it. It was only when I attended a naturopathy camp that I realised that my sciatica was treatable, and that too, with honey. It took a few months, but I was fully cured. That opened the beehive for me! I started reading and studying about the benefits of honey so that I could help others like me who were ignorant about the treatments available.

I took training on beekeeping at Hissar Agricultural University and started researching on honey. It was during this time I read an article titled White Sugar is a crime. That assured me that I was following the right path. I started using honey regularly practicing what I learnt during my research.

My book aims to explain the benefits of honey as food and how it can help in curing many common diseases of the modern world.

    Preface

Ancient humans recognised honey as one of nature’s most valuable and beneficial foods, which they used both for its medicinal and nutritive value. Man is greatly indebted to the world of bees for not only this delectable food, but also the increased crop yields from their inadvertent role in the pollination of flowers.

Bees have been producing honey long before humans appeared on Earth. Man’s intervention led to their exploitation for higher yields. Over the past two decades, beekeepers have increased the total world population of honeybee colonies enormously. The world production of honey increased nearly tenfold from about 10 million tons to 100 million tons between 1900 to date.

Modern man has drifted far away from nature. Our hectic lives, increase of junk food in our lives, use of toxic drugs, chemicals, fertilizers and the ever-increasing industrial pollution has made us a target of many unwanted chronic ailments. Diseases in fact are a natural punishment against man’s interference to nature. And in an attempt to get quick relief or escape from them, humans resort to a variety of broad spectrum and lethal drugs. These have huge side effects, which ultimately disables or kills. The irony is that in a bid to escape disease, man becomes a total victim of the drugs without realizing that the only way to be fit for healthy survival is to go back to nature’s way of living, that is, by adopting good and natural feeding habits.

If you don't think your anxiety, depression, sadness and stress impact your physical health, think again. All of these emotions trigger chemical reactions in your body, which can lead to inflammation and a weakened immune system. Learn how to cope, sweet friend. There will always be dark days.

Hippocrates, the Greek physician said, Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. Products like honey, raw vegetables, fruits or fruit juices are nature’s gift to us. Honey–supplemented foods like fruits and unprocessed vegetables or their juices provide a lot of nutrition and vitality. Honey Juice therapy thus is an efficacious cure for a variety of ailments and can be very effective as medicine.

For many centuries, honey has been regarded as a wonderful gift of nature to man, in which the characteristics of an excellent food are combined with medicinal properties. Honey is a harmless combination of the fragrance and sweetness of flowers. As a sweetener, it is far superior to cane sugar and taken easily into the blood. It is an ideal food for the heart and the liver.

Honey contains a variety of chemicals important for a healthy life. The invert sugars provide energy readily and minerals act as power enzymes and supplement body growth, health and freshness. The organic acids in it inhibit the growth of bacteria and thus act as a valuable healing
