From Stuart Gustafson—I wish to dedicate this book to all the grandparents who are so excited by the sight and the sounds of their precious grandchildren. I never really knew my grandparents. My mom’s father had died at an early age, and her mother passed away when I was eleven. My dad’s father was killed in the same car crash that killed my dad when I was sixteen; and I did not have the chance to know his mom because we moved a lot when I was young—Dad was in the U.S. Navy. Being able to spend time with loving grandparents was a piece of life that I missed out on, and so I try to make up for it by spending time with my own loving family. Therefore, I give special thanks to my wife Darlene, and to our children, Adrianne and Woodrow. I consider myself to be truly blessed to have Robyn Freedman Spizman as my coauthor.
From Robyn Spizman—To my parents, Phyllis and Jack Freedman, who have shared with me the joy of the generations past and celebrated the goal of preserving the special memories we all hold near and dear to our hearts. And to my husband, Willy, and our children, Justin and Ali, who make my life so worthwhile and create new memories that sustain me. And to Doug and Genie Freedman, Sam and Gena Spizman, Aunt Lois and Uncle Jerry, Aunt Ramona, and to my real life angel, Betty Storne, and The Spizman Agency, Jenny Corsey, my family and friends, too numerous to mention, you are permanently recorded in my mind and heart forever. To my grandparents, who no longer grace the earth, you wholeheartedly grace my spirit daily.

Foreword
Grandparents are the luckiest people in the world. They get to spend time with their grandchildren, buy presents for them, spoil them, and be loved by them. Can anyone think of a better job than that? The role of a grandparent doesn’t pay anything, but its rewards are immeasurable. Close your eyes and picture this—young grandchildren laughing and playing with smiling and energetic grandparents. Can’t you just hear the laughter, the squeals, and the happiness that surrounds all of them? This is such a beautiful image.
However, not all grandchildren know that much about their grandparents. Just as we are all someone’s son or daughter, each of us is also a grandson or a granddaughter. The difference is that not everyone is fortunate to live close to his or her grandparents; or perhaps the grandparents are deceased. It is certainly quite a loss that not all grandparents can spend precious time with their
