Beginners to painting and beginners to working with acrylics alike will benefit from this helpful e-book. You'll learn the methods that work – and those that don't – due to the unique characteristics of acrylic paints.
From choosing the right type of acrylics – there are many – to purchasing the proper brushes, canvases and other equipment, I'll take you step by step through basic acrylic painting skills, from using brushes and palette knives to ensuring that your paint is the right consistency for your piece of work.
I'll also show you how to use blocks of color, along with tinting and shading, to give your painting a multi-dimensional look and appeal. By building on a solid foundation, you can rely on your new skills as your painting projects become more challenging.

CHAPTER 1 – HOW IS ACRYLIC PAINTING UNIQUE?
There are several types of paint mediums in the world of art. Each type has history, properties, advantages and disadvantages, when you’re creating a unique painting.
Oil paint has an illustrious history. It’s been the premiere medium utilized by many talented artists, especially those of centuries past. Oil allows you to create texture and depth to paintings.
Acrylic paint is newer to artists than oils, and it has a versatility that gives it a well-deserved reputation as being somewhat easier to work with, as compared to oils.
First, a Quick Look at Oil Painting
Oil paint is made from tiny pigment particles, combined and then suspended in linseed oil and thinner. The mixture is stabilized and a drying agent is added. Oil paints take a long time to dry – if you create an oil painting, it may take three months or so for the surface to dry completely.
This does offer artists a chance to edit their paintings, and combine layers, which will add to the painting’s texture. It is supposed that oil paints will lose some of their original color as time passes.
